Job description

Overview
Abacus Technology is seeking a Principal Network Engineer to provide technical infrastructure support for the Air Force Intranet Control (AFINC) III Support program at Maxwell AFB/Gunter Annex. This is a full-time position.
Responsibilities
  • Analyze and simulate network traffic to aide in problem resolution or to test updated configurations in virtual or physical lab environments.
  • Design, implement, and troubleshoot the most complex enterprise network solutions and/or issues.
  • Develop, execute, modify or remove scripts to assist in automation of tasks.
  • Review and document all workload activities per incident or change request to eliminate re-work or for auditing/investigation purposes.

Qualifications
10+ years experience in network engineering and administration. HS diploma or GED. Must be Security+ and CCNP certified. CCIE certification desired. Experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, upgrading, patching, and hardening routers, serial consoles, load balancers, and switches. Extensive experience with enterprise level network architectures and configurations. Able to assess infrastructure, identify areas for improvement, and recommend solutions. Knowledge of Software Defined Networking (SDN) is desired. Experience with network monitoring and management using an automated solution. Extensive experience with security as it pertains to network architecture, desktops, laptops, servers, firewalls, routers, and intrusion detection systems (IDS). Solid customer service and communication skills are critical as well as the ability and willingness to communicate effectively and appropriately in an empathetic and understanding manner. Must be a US Citizen and hold a current Top Secret clearance with SCI access (TS/SCI).
