Job description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Communications Network Engineer Senior to support a federal defense organization focused on enterprise collaboration, workflow automation, and mission-critical business systems. This position is on-site in Norfolk, VA. The Communications Network Engineer Senior will be responsible for designing, administering, troubleshooting, & maintaining enterprise network environments across LAN/BAN/WAN. This role supports large-scale, integrated network environments & requires hands-on expertise with Cisco networking technologies, network performance optimization, system migrations, & enterprise communications infrastructure supporting secure government operations. Responsibilities of the Communications Network Engineer Senior include: • Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise LAN, BAN, and WAN network environments supporting mission-critical operations • Configure, monitor, and optimize Cisco network infrastructure including routers, switches, and related network devices • Analyze network performance, identify connectivity issues, and implement corrective actions to ensure system availability and reliability • Support network integration efforts involving complex, large-scale computer and communications systems • Plan, coordinate, and execute network upgrades, migrations, cutovers, and technology refresh initiatives • Coordinate with end users, system administrators, engineering teams, and remote sites to support network changes and operational requirements • Perform network testing, validation, and troubleshooting during deployment and sustainment activities • Monitor network health and performance utilizing enterprise management and diagnostic tools • Implement network configurations in accordance with DoD security requirements and operational standards • Support incident response and outage resolution efforts across geographically dispersed environments • Maintain detailed network diagrams, configurations, technical documentation, and change management records • Collaborate with cybersecurity and infrastructure teams to ensure secure and compliant network operations Qualifications of the Communications Network Engineer Senior include: * Bachelor's Degree in IT, CS, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) * 5+ years of experience administering & supporting enterprise network environments * Hands-on experience supporting LAN/WAN & large-scale integrated network infrastructures * Strong experience configuring & troubleshooting Cisco networking equipment including routers & switches * Experience performing network performance analysis, diagnostics, & problem resolution * Experience supporting network migrations, conversions, cutovers, & infrastructure upgrades * Knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols, switching technologies, VLANs, & network architecture principles * CCNA certification or equivalent OEM network support certification * IATII certification * Active Secret Clearance Compensation for the SharePoint / Power Platform Developer include: *
