Join GDIT in supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) through the NEDIIS programan organization serving millions of Veterans and more than 400,000 employees nationwide. The scale, complexity, and mission impact make this an opportunity to contribute to infrastructure that directly supports Veteran care and benefits. Additionally, you will design, implement, secure, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, strong cybersecurity posture, and efficient troubleshooting aligned with VA network standards. You will support daily operations and modernization initiatives across the VA and NEDIIS program.
As a Cyber Network Engineer, you will help modernize SDWAN and enterprise networking across a large, distributed VA environment. You will support VA OIT in delivering secure, resilient, and scalable network services while contributing to nextgeneration initiatives, including:
Highcapacity fabrics for AI and dataintensive workloads, using northsouth and eastwest segmentation with automation for resilient service delivery.
Advanced EVPN/VXLAN overlays that extend scalability, segmentation, and agility beyond traditional VLAN architectures.
IPv6first designs to prepare VA infrastructure for futureready capabilities and expanding connected ecosystems.
LEO satellite connectivity for emergency failover, rapid deployment, and missioncritical reach to remote clinics.

This role will require you to obtain and maintain Public Trust Suitability and will require you to provide onsite fingerprinting at a designated facility. This investigation may review personal and criminal behavior, financial conduct, foreign influence, as well as other adjudications.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Create detailed network architecture specifications and schematics.
Provide hardware/software maintenance guidance and perform network testing.
Maintain expertise across routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, gateways, and related systems.
Develop technical solutions for complex problems aligned with program goals.
Contribute to major engineering projects and modernization efforts.
Work independently to resolve complex issues, with work evaluated for meeting objectives.
Present technical solutions and participate in briefings with internal/external stakeholders.
WHAT YOULL NEED TO SUCCEED
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
35 years in network engineering or telecom/network modernization.
Strong experience in LAN/WAN, SDWAN, routing, VoIP/SIP, firewalls, VPNs, and cloud networking.
Familiarity with monitoring/observability tools.
Understanding of NIST, Zero Trust, TIC, STIGs.
Ability to support escalations in a 247 environment.
Strong communication and stakeholderengagement skills.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
TCP/IP, DNS, FTP, SSH, ACLs, VLANs, DMZ, BGP.
Troubleshooting routing/switching in large enterprise environments.
IPSEC, DMVPN, SitetoSite VPN, L3VPN, VPLS.

The likely salary range for this position is $83,927 - $113,549. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
