Job description

This role requires the ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future.

Do you have what it takes to plan, forecast, implement, and identify resource requirements for highly complex network systems? As a Network Engineer IV at Spectrum, you will be responsible for designing and developing corporate network standards, enhancements, and network architecture critical to our business of keeping millions connected. This Network Engineer will act as a technical lead as the escalation point in issue resolution,ย mentoring junior engineers on the team, driving cross-functional collaboration, and managing multiple project timelines, priorities, and tasks by bringing effective time management skills to the table.


How Youโ€™ll Make an Impactย 

  • Design, deploy, manage, and ensure stability of the local/wide area network infrastructure technologies to provide high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability to effectively and efficiently support mission critical business systemsย 
  • Demonstrate a high level of competence in LAN/WAN technologies, routing and switching platforms, troubleshooting critical issues, and coordination of implementationย 
  • Represent the engineering department working closely with architects and engineers in designing, modeling, and implementing new technologiesย 
  • Become a trusted partner of our engineering team through the delivery of excellent customer service and knowledge that will allow our business to growย 
  • Troubleshoot and resolves major network and system issuesย 
  • Document project requirements including scope, costs, schedule, testing and terms of delivery to ensure project is completed with highest level of quality on time and within budgetย 
  • Lead staff effortsโ€”mentor and train other engineering personnel in key elements of networking systems and provide technical presentations to instruct co-workers and other production services support individualsย 
  • Research and identify technology opportunities and their application to the businessย 
  • Test and validate all new hardware and connections for proper configuration and performanceย 

Working Conditionsย 

  • 24x7 Network Operations environment. Depending on business group, on-call work may be an essential function of the job.ย 
  • May work in Network Lab environmentย 
  • Occasional travel as requiredย

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, related field, or equivalent work experienceย

  • Data networking knowledge (OSI Model, TCP/IP, Optical Transport)
  • Extensive knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and
  • Transport technologies and protocols
  • Extensive knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology
