Restaurant Support Technician
Part-time Contract | On-site | Greater Boston, MA
We are looking for a technically skilled, detail-oriented technician to provide hands-on IT and network support to restaurant clients across the Greater Boston area.
ROLE OVERVIEW
This is an ongoing part-time contract opportunity supporting locally owned restaurants. As a Restaurant Support Technician, you will be the go-to resource for restaurant operators when technology is not working as it should. From troubleshooting network outages during a dinner rush to running cable before a restaurant opens its doors, you will handle a wide variety of support scenarios in fast-paced, real-world environments. This role requires physical presence at client locations throughout the Boston metro area, flexibility for occasional evening work, and a calm, professional demeanor under pressure. OvationCXM processes payment within 10 business days of job completion and required deliverable submission.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot network infrastructure including routers, switches, and wireless access points in restaurant environments.
• Perform low voltage cabling runs (ethernet, coax, and related) using your own tools, ensuring clean and code-compliant installations.
• Support, configure, and troubleshoot point-of-sale (POS) systems, terminals, printers, and related hardware and software.
• Travel to restaurant locations across the Greater Boston area to provide on-site technical support and complete project work.
• Perform select installations and maintenance tasks during evening or off-hours windows to minimize disruption to restaurant operations.
• Document work performed, site configurations, and client communications accurately and in a timely manner.
REQUIREMENTS
• Demonstrated experience with computer networking, including subnets, VLANs, DHCP, routing, and wireless configuration.• Hands-on experience and personal tools for performing low voltage cabling work.
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel throughout the Greater Boston metro area for on-site work.
• Availability for occasional evening and off-hours work as needed.
• Exceptional attention to detail in cabling, configuration, and documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical restaurant staff.
NICE TO HAVE
• Prior experience supporting restaurant POS systems such as Toast, Square for Restaurants, Aloha, or similar platforms.
• Background in hospitality or food service; understanding the pace and pressure of restaurant operations is a real advantage.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, BICSI, or vendor-specific credentials.
WHO YOU ARE
You take pride in doing things right the first time. You are comfortable walking into a busy
kitchen or a cramped server closet and getting the job done without hand-holding. You
communicate professionally with clients, follow through on commitments, and do not leave a
site until everything is working and documented. You understand that in a restaurant,
downtime means lost revenue, and you treat every call with that urgency.
The pay range for this role is:
50 - 75 USD per hour (Boston, MA)
