Job Summary

The Sales Engineer (SE) mission is to provide both onsite and in-house pre-sale support as well as post-implementation of specified complex voice, data, and video to ensure successful sales attainment. The SE will support the entire Commercial Sales organization and will be responsible for New Sales and Customer Retention support. The Sales Engineer is responsible for providing Tier II support and is also charged with providing pre-sale support and consultation on extremely complex applications. The Sales Engineer function combines various aspects of sales, network engineering, customer application design, technical support and customer service. The Sales Engineer works directly with the Sales Force, participating in sales calls, designing solutions and helping to satisfy the Customer's need for qualified, well-designed products and services. The SE will function primarily in bulk managed WiFi, bulk data and video delivery capacities, providing qualified information and design services. He or she will interface with the Sales Force, Network Engineering, Provisioning, Construction, Installation, Service and the NOC to complete assigned tasks and ensure Customer satisfaction. They will also work with the Product department on equipment compatibility development.

Responsibilities
  • Provide Sales Force with pre-sale technical expertise.
  • Consults with Account Executives and their prospects regarding any technical questions and concerns regarding network design, CVC services and CPE.
  • Participate in presentations to potential customers describing the strengths of the Managed WiFi Services, Fiber Network, HFC Network and technical advantages of Optimum services.
  • Use Consultative and Application Selling techniques to enhance revenue and customer satisfaction where warranted.
  • Assist Sales Rep with sales opportunities requiring Visio diagrams
  • Interface with customers to determine technical requirements for Optimum Bulk Data and Managed WiFi Services
  • Translates techno-speak to plain English for both customers and internal personnel and English to techno-speak at a level all can readily understand.
  • Ensure customers' requirements are met, while internal procedures are followed.
  • Assist Strategic Sales Representatives in the gathering of data from all Optimum departments to respond to RPF/RFI's.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other support duties, as required.

Technical/Functional Competencies

  • Minimum of 5 years of Telecom/Technical Sales experience working with IP network infrastructure, enterprise and wireless networking, managed broadband services, carrier fiber networks, and related internet technologies and protocols.
  • Working knowledge of IP network infrastructure, enterprise networking, managed IP access networks, IP internet and wireless protocols, IP video services, VoIP voice solutions, carrier fiber networks, and broadband internet access services..
  • Strong knowledge of IP networking, enterprise wireless networking, firewalls, VPNs, Ethernet, Passive Optical Networks (PON), cloud and IoT applications, technology stacks, and network telemetry systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Hamina/Ekahau, Visio, BlueBeam, Salesforce, MS Office 365 Suite, various AI professional working tools and PC-based network utility tools.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient time management skills.
  • Must be comfortable conversing expertly and clearly with customers and their IT personnel.
  • Proven design and analysis experience with, WAN, LAN, OSI Model, Network Security, Techstack-layer technology IoT, IP Video, VoIP, IP Network Infrastructure, Fiber PON/Multi-Gigabit, DOCSIS technology, HFC Broadband Internet
  • Must be comfortable design presentations, training Sales teams on basic data networking , Optimum managed WiFi and basic Fiber PON and HFC Broadband applications and requirements.
  • Valid Drivers' License and access to reliable transportation required.

Key Experiences/Achievements

  • CWNA (Certified Wireless Network Associate), certification preferred
  • CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), certification preferred
  • BSEE or equivalent work experience. Working knowledge of competitor's services and networks.
