Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under general supervision, identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems encountered by our global-wide Customers of our products. We provide Networks Transport / Telecom services. The applicant will troubleshoot and solve Metro-area & Wide Area network problems; opening & managing customer support tickets; provide technical support to customers; install, test, certify and troubleshoot networking cabling systems; install configured network equipment; provides technical expertise to customers regarding optimal set-up for network use; install, configure, monitor and troubleshoot a wide range of network and data communications software and hardware; test and deploy various software applications and network-related procedures.

SCOPE:

The Network Technician analyzes network-related problems reported by customers, diagnoses the most effective method to resolve the problem and implements the solution; installs, maintains, and troubleshoots the Metro Area Network (MAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), data communications, microcomputers and all peripheral equipment.


Responsibilities

Key duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature.

1. Identifies, troubleshoots and resolves hardware-, software- and network-related problems encountered by business customers on our network.

2. Configure, test and installs network equipment such as Cisco, etc.

3. Performs primary network system administration on network servers as needed.

4. Installs, certifies and troubleshoots network cabling infrastructure, including metro area & wide area network/telecom equipment and software.

5. Uses established tracking system to log requests; monitors progress, tracks problem resolution, identifies patterns of failure, researches bug fixes and implements solutions; communicates with manager regarding unresolved problems.

6. Works with vendors to resolve hardware operating system issues; researches and tests possible solutions and implements solutions. Analyzes bugs in system and software; researches and tests possible solutions; implements solutions.

7. Works with Programmers to solve problems & improve internal systems.

8. Optimizes computer usage by researching and recommending enhancements to system capabilities and performance.

11. Enforces our companies network security and installation procedures.

12. Work rotating, including on call shifts in a 24/7 environment to support our global network

13. Field Dispatch and driving to locations will be a requirement.


Qualifications

Education/Certification:

Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (or working towards this)

Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree and Internship experience

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Experience working with network technology & systems technologies such as Cisco, Juniper, Ciena, SNMP Server, Dell, and knowledge of program applications.

Experience working with persons from diverse cultural

Must be HIGHLY motivated.

Must be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of a fast growing company working and supporting financial markets customers.

Strong work ethic and multi-tasking ability

Able to work unsupervised, but also to utilize direction, supervision, criticism, and training effectively.

Excellent analytical problem solving and decision-making abilities

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Driver’s License is a requirement


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of coursework in computer sciences.

Experience: Current experience providing Level Two technical desktop and network support in a large multi-platform and multi-operating systems environment OR one year of experience and an MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) certificate. Demonstrated experience implementing local area networks using multi operating systems and platforms, network and computer trouble-shooting and problem solving skills required, including knowledge of networking theory, principles and practices. Specific knowledge of TCP/IP, Routing, WAN/LAN/MAN Switching using Cisco equipment. Knowledge of web programming would also be helpful.
