Job description

NewGen Technologies has an opening for a Tier II Network Engineer to support the customer's computer data communications systems, in providing design specifications, testing and inspections for computer networks; plan and implementing upgrades; as well as, analyzing and organizing corresponding hardware and software combined solutions through network modeling.
Responsibilities
  • Support the installation and maintenance of the client LAN/WAN devices
  • Respond to and resolve incidents, demonstrate troubleshooting skills and communicate with the team
  • Complete assigned tasks within Service Level Objectives/Agreements (SLOs/SLAs)
  • Draft and implement standard network change requests
  • Provide support to Tier III network engineers for incident management and projects (site surveys, TEMS, coordinate and install new equipment)
  • Perform configuration management functions such as update topology drawings, ensure asset management records are accurate, and conduct inventory
  • Coordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades. (Knowledge of CISCO/Juniper RMA process)
  • Layer 1 network experience (CAT5/6, SM/MM Fiber, Serial cables, SFP)
  • Layer 2 network experience (ability to configure/troubleshoot switches/routers, MAC addresses, VLANs, port security, applying thin and thick configs.
  • Layer 3 network experience (subnetting, familiar with protocols such as OSPF, BGP, HSRP, MPLS, LSP, GRE)
  • Configure and troubleshoot layer 2 switching (VLAN's, Port Security, Thin Configs.)
  • Perform IOS upgrades for Cisco, Juniper, Brocade and Foundry OS
  • Experience with Visio
  • Familiar with ServiceNow and Confluence
  • May have up to 10% COMSEC responsibilities based on site and team needs
Requirements
  • TS/SCI CI Poly Clearance
  • 10 years of experience that can be a combination of work history and education. This equates to a Doctorate and 3 years, master's and 4 years, bachelor's and 6 years, associates and 8 years or HS diploma and 10 years.
  • Compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) 8140 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2

Desired Skills
  • Available to travel up to 20% of the time
  • Available to work flexible hours, to include weekend support
