Job description

Job Title: Network Engineer

Duration: Direct Hire

Location: (Onsite) Litchfield, MN

Job Description:

  • Our client is looking for a Network Engineer to strengthen business continuity, reduce dependency on a single network resource, and add capacity across IT and OT support needs.
  • This person will work closely with the existing network engineer, operations leaders, production stakeholders, and the broader IT team.
  • This is a strong fit for someone who enjoys hands-on infrastructure work, understands how technology supports manufacturing operations, and can communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical teams.

What You Will Do

  • Support network infrastructure and related IT/OT systems tied to plant operations.
  • Partner with the current network engineer on network reliability, uptime, business continuity, and cybersecurity-adjacent needs.
  • Coordinate system changes, patches, updates, and outages around production schedules and planned downtime.
  • Work closely with operations and production teams before making changes that could affect plant systems.
  • Help reduce single-point-of-failure risk within a lean IT department.
  • Provide support for urgent issues, including occasional off-hours needs tied to a 24/7 production environment.
  • Participate in the IT on-call rotation.
  • Bring another technical perspective to infrastructure decisions and help challenge thinking in a constructive, service-oriented way.
  • Build trust with business partners by following through, communicating clearly, and understanding the operational impact of IT decisions.

Requirements:

  • Mid-level network engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, production, plant, OT, or other operationally critical systems.
  • Strong understanding of how infrastructure changes affect always-on business environments.
  • Ability to coordinate technical work around limited maintenance windows and production downtime.
  • Strong accountability, follow-through, and credibility with teammates and business partners.
  • Clear communication style, especially when explaining technical topics to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Service-oriented mindset and willingness to work closely with operations.
  • Ability to work well with structured, high-expectation technical teammates.
  • Flexibility around early production schedules, maintenance windows, on-call support, and occasional off-hours issues.

Preferred Experience

  • Dairy, food production, or broader manufacturing environment experience.
  • Experience supporting systems that are directly connected to production processes.
  • Cybersecurity awareness or experience working alongside cybersecurity-focused infrastructure resources.
  • Experience in a lean IT environment where team members balance ownership, collaboration, and hands-on support.

The projected salary range for this position is $90-95k salary.
