Job Description
U.S. Bank is seeking a Senior Network Engineer with multi-network technologies and technical leadership experience to contribute toward the success of our technology initiatives.
About the team
The Network Test & Certification team provides pre-production validation, certification, automation, and lab engineering services that help ensure network hardware, software, security updates, and infrastructure changes are thoroughly tested before deployment. We support all of the Network Technology Services groups.
What you will do
  • Design, implement, and support enterprise network infrastructure including routing, switching, SD-WAN, wireless, security, and cloud networking solutions.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage network lab environments to support testing, validation, certification, and proof-of-concept initiatives.
  • Evaluate and validate network hardware, software, firmware, and infrastructure upgrades prior to production deployment.
  • Create and execute test plans to ensure network performance, scalability, reliability, security, and compliance requirements are met.
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to improve stability and availability.
  • Drive network automation and orchestration initiatives using modern tools and scripting technologies to improve operational efficiency and scalability.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, security teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to design and deploy enterprise networking solutions.
  • Support incident management, problem resolution, and escalation activities for critical network services and infrastructure.
  • Research, prototype, and implement emerging technologies including cloud networking, software-defined networking (SDN), network automation, and AI-driven operations.
  • Develop technical standards, architecture documentation, operational procedures, and reusable engineering frameworks to support enterprise network initiatives.
  • Partner with technology vendors to evaluate new products, influence roadmap decisions, and ensure alignment with business requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to engineering best practices, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement efforts.

Basic Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or equivalent work experience
  • At least 5 years experience within a total Information Technology (IT) environment.
  • At least 5 years experience with managing day-to-day delivery of satisfactory network services to clients.

Preferred Skills/Experience
  • Expertise in enterprise networking technologies including Routing & Switching, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, VXLAN, EVPN, LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, and Wireless.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Cisco networking platforms including Catalyst, Nexus, ACI, Identity Services Engine (ISE), DNA Center, and Meraki.
  • Experience designing, validating, and supporting high-availability, large-scale enterprise network infrastructures.
  • Knowledge of network security technologies including Firewalls, VPNs, NAC, Zero Trust, Segmentation, IDS/IPS, and Secure Access Service Edge (SASE).
  • Proficiency in network automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Python, Ansible, Terraform, APIs, Git, and CI/CD methodologies.
  • Experience with cloud networking and hybrid architectures across AWS, Azure, and multi-cloud environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting, performance tuning, packet analysis, and root cause analysis skills using tools such as Wireshark, ThousandEyes, SolarWinds, and network monitoring platforms.
  • Experience with Software-Defined Networking (SDN), network virtualization, automation frameworks, and AIOps solutions.
  • Industry certifications preferred, including CCNP Enterprise, CCIE, AWS Advanced Networking Specialty, Azure Network Engineer (AZ-700), CISSP, or equivalent.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. Pay Range: $105,400.00 - $124,000.00
