This includes engineering teams, distributors, and more than 100 qualified construction crews with extensive experience across all ISP types and markets; over 300 experienced bury drop crews; and more than 700 professional technicians.
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Public Works team in the Sacramento, CA area. In this role you will be responsible for overseeing construction of critical water distribution infrastructures. You will be the primary and single point of contact for projects of all sizes, scopes and levels of complexity within our Public Works team.

The Role
  • Manage multi-million-dollar project budgets and detailed timelines to ensure on time and cost-effective delivery
  • Work closely with Superintendent and Foreman to coordinate construction activities including excavation, pipe laying, pressure testing and final connections
  • Negotiate and prepare change orders
  • Prepare & submit as-builts
  • Manage relationships with consultants and sub-contractors
  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations (environmental, EPA, health and safety)
  • Act as primary liaison between clients, contractors, city agencies and the public.
  • Regularly visit project sites to assess progress, ensure quality control and confirm safety compliance (+/- 50% travel within a 2-hour radius with occasional site visits throughout SoCal as needed)
  • Lead projects with a balanced focus on achievement of targeted outcomes, meeting internal and external stakeholder needs and creating efficiencies/reducing costs
  • Provide full life cycle project leadership, including initial planning and assessment, project resourcing/team building, documentation/reporting and post-close project analysis
  • Identify and mitigate potential project risks and issues, implementing effective risk management strategies
  • Regularly communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders, providing clear direction and status updates
  • Prepare and provide executive status updates - including both the technical and human-sides of project management
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements
  • 5+ years of direct project management experience within water utilities or public works infrastructure is required
  • Strong understanding of water distribution systems and construction methods
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field of study is preferred, or equivalent experience preferred
  • Professional certifications are preferred but not necessary - PMP, Scrum Master, Lean/Agile, etc.
  • Ability to work independently, be self-driven and a highly organized problem solver
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels
  • Able to travel to job sites +/- 50% within a 2-hour radius with occasional site visits throughout SoCal as needed
  • Experienced using project tracking tools, such as Smartsheet, MS Project, or similar
  • Must provide a valid government-issued photo ID for verification; a driver's license is required if the role involves driving
  • Passing of all pre-employment requirements (MVR, Background Check, Drug Screen)
