Job description

SMX is looking for a highly motivated Network Administrator to join our growing team in Patuxent River, MD!
This position will provide onsite support at Patuxent River NAS in southern Maryland and requires a DoD Top Secret Security clearance which requires US citizenship for work on DoD contracts.
As the Network Administrator, you will join a team of highly-driven, supportive, and skilled professionals engaged in supporting program management, technical, or business case analysis across the NAVAIR community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage and administer all network devices including deployment of new technologies
  • Troubleshoot LAN, WAN, and application-level connectivity and performance problems
  • Maintain network boundary security
  • Participate in network security incident investigations
  • Perform audit reviews of STIG standards and STIG updates of assigned devices
  • Perform reviews of vulnerabilities and perform remediation planning and execution
  • Maintain documentation including work instructions, SOPs, processes and desk guides
  • Other tasks as assigned by customer POCs, Team Lead, and Management team

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Clearance Required: Top Secret
    • Secret required to start
  • IAT Level 2 or higher certification (Examples of minimum acceptable certifications-CCNA Security, CySA+, G SEC, Security+ CE, SSCP)
  • 3-year minimum experience with networking device configuration and support
  • 3-year minimum experience with IP networking design
  • 3-year minimum experience with virtual server environments
  • Knowledge of DoD Information Assurance practices, including Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG)
  • Must be able to interact with peers, management, and senior engineers in a constantly evolving environment to ensure a positive customer experience and atmosphere in the workplace.
  • Must be able to follow defined and documented customer processes and policies, and perform tasking where there may be documentation gaps
  • Experience working with network infrastructure devices and protocols, and proven ability to design, deploy, and maintain solutions supporting high-availability network infrastructures.
  • Must be highly motivated and will be required to respond to and provide resolutions to problems on a timely basis.
  • Experience with planning, configuring, managing, monitoring and troubleshooting of a variety of network systems.

Desired Skills & Experience:
  • Experience with Linux is a plus
  • Ability to be a self-starter and have the initiative to learn more advanced operations and technologies
