Job description

Cloud Infrastructure & Systems Engineer

Complete Staffing is partnering with a well-established organization in the financial services industry to identify a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on technology professional who enjoys working across cloud infrastructure, systems administration, and development support while playing a key role in a growing IT organization.

Our client is looking for someone who can take ownership of their AWS environment while serving as a versatile technical resource across their broader technology stack. This individual will work closely with the Director of IT, helping manage day-to-day infrastructure operations, support custom software applications, and contribute to strategic technology initiatives, including the organization's expanding use of AI.

AWS Infrastructure (Primary Focus)

  • Serve as the primary technical owner of the organization's AWS environment, including compute, storage, networking, identity, security, monitoring, and supporting services.
  • Design, implement, and optimize AWS architecture to improve reliability, scalability, security, and cost efficiency.
  • Manage AWS networking, including VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, VPN connectivity, DNS, load balancing, and hybrid cloud connectivity.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar technologies.
  • Perform security patching, configuration hardening, and vulnerability remediation across cloud infrastructure.
  • Configure monitoring, alerting, logging, and observability using CloudWatch, Datadog, or similar platforms.
  • Establish infrastructure performance metrics and respond to production alerts and incidents.
  • Manage backup and disaster recovery solutions, including recovery testing and documentation.
  • Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous infrastructure improvements.
  • Support security, compliance, audit, and risk management initiatives.

Development & Infrastructure Support

  • Partner with software engineers to troubleshoot application infrastructure, deployments, networking, and production issues.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines, build processes, source control integrations, and automated environment provisioning.
  • Help bridge the gap between infrastructure and application development teams, particularly around the client's custom lending platform.

General IT Operations

  • Provide technical support across a variety of infrastructure and operational initiatives as business priorities evolve.
  • Assist the Director of IT by taking ownership of operational responsibilities and day-to-day technical initiatives.
  • Participate in cross-functional technology projects, including AI-related initiatives and continuous process improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience managing production cloud infrastructure with significant AWS experience.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, routing, and network security.
  • Experience administering Windows Server and/or Linux environments.
  • Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Datadog, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar technologies.
  • Scripting or automation experience with PowerShell, Python, or similar languages.
  • Experience with backup, disaster recovery, and recovery testing.
  • Experience supporting highly available production applications and infrastructure.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and change management skills.
  • Comfortable working as a technical generalist and adapting to changing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in banking, financial services, or another regulated industry.
  • Experience supporting DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • AWS certification (Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, or similar) is a plus.
