Job Description:

Parsons is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support our cutting-edge Drone Armor counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) program. The Senior Network Engineer will plan, support, and evaluate complex network systems; provide advanced technical leadership in network planning and architecture; and ensure high availability, performance, and scalability of the networks that enable Drone Armor development, test, and operational environments. This role may lead a team of network engineers on large and complex projects.

What You'll Be Doing

Advanced Network Planning, Engineering & Architecture

  • Plan, support, and evaluate complex existing network systems and recommend resources required to maintain and/or expand service levels

  • Provide highly skilled technical assistance in network planning, engineering, and architecture for Drone Armor C-UAS environments

  • Plan and incorporate how new network resources and applications will exist on the network, ensuring compatibility, performance, and security

Standards, Product Evaluation & Problem Resolution

  • Provide and develop technical standards and interface applications for network infrastructure

  • Identify and evaluate new products and technologies; provide solutions for complex network problems

  • Interface with internal and external customers and vendors to determine system needs and align network capabilities with mission and business requirements

Monitoring, Capacity Planning & Metrics

  • Use network management tools to discover, map, and maintain the network

  • Monitor and maintain network interfaces to ensure the highest level of performance and make modifications and enhancements as needed

  • Provide monthly metrics for network availability, bandwidth usage, and other metrics as requested

  • Responsible for network capacity planning to meet current and future operational demands

Configuration Management, Upgrades & Documentation

  • Responsible for network equipment OS and version upgrades, ensuring standardization, security, and minimal operational impact

  • Conduct research of new technologies and implementation strategies to enhance network capabilities and resilience

  • Document procedures and keep network diagrams and related material up to date and accurate

  • Handle escalated user problems, questions, and requests on network issues; work with other groups within IS to resolve network-related issues as needed

Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • May lead a team of network engineers on large and complex projects, providing technical direction and oversight

  • Coordinate with systems, cybersecurity, software, and test teams to ensure integrated, secure, and robust network operations across lab, field, and operational environments

What Required Skills You'll Bring

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or other engineering or technical discipline is required with 6 years of experience OR

  • 8 years of relevant network engineering experience may be substituted for education

Experience

  • Experience planning, supporting, and evaluating complex network systems in demanding environments

  • Experience providing highly skilled technical assistance in network planning, engineering, and architecture

  • Experience developing technical standards, evaluating new products, and delivering solutions for complex network problems

  • Experience with network capacity planning, performance monitoring, and availability/bandwidth metrics

  • Experience performing network equipment OS and version upgrades and maintaining current network documentation and diagrams

  • Experience handling escalated network issues and, preferably, leading teams of network engineers on large and complex projects

Technical Competencies

  • Strong expertise in network architectures, routing/switching, and core network protocols

  • Proficiency with network management and monitoring tools for discovery, mapping, and performance tracking

  • Solid understanding of network security principles and integration with enterprise security controls

  • Ability to work effectively with customers, vendors, and cross-functional technical teams to resolve issues and implement solutions

Security & Citizenship

  • Must be a US Citizen

  • SECRET security clearance

What Desired Skills You'll Bring

Advanced Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Information Systems, or related field

  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNP/CCIE, Network+, or equivalent vendor certifications)

Specialized Experience

  • Experience supporting DoD, defense, C-UAS, or other mission-critical, secure network environments

  • Experience in tactical, field, or test-range networking within contested or bandwidth-constrained environments

Additional Technical Skills

  • Experience with software-defined networking (SDN), VPNs, and advanced QoS/traffic engineering

  • Familiarity with automation and scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible) for network configuration and management
