Responsibilities:

The Network Engineer 1 will support Barrow Wise's NYC Department of Social Services project and perform the following duties:

  • Install, configure, and support routing, switching, and firewall infrastructure
  • Replace HW upgrade on switches: Required to install a switch to the rack and cabling. Some remote sites may need to run new cabling
  • Firewall upgrade: Install switch to the rack and cabling
  • Replace Riverbed App Response and Riverbed Steelhead
  • Add Bluecoat infrastructure
  • Work on-site in NYC

An ideal candidate has the following:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • 4 Years of experience in network administration and management
  • 4 Years of Extensive routing, switching, and firewall experience supporting complex LAN/WAN security networks
  • 4 Years of experience with extensive IP switched/routed-based networks and firewalls; Knowledge of IP addressing and subnetting (IPv4/6) and routing protocols, including BGP, OSPF, and MPLS
  • 4 Years of experience with Virtual Private networks
  • 4 Years of advanced installation/troubleshooting experience with Palo Alto Firewall
  • 4 Years of advanced installation/troubleshooting experience with Juniper firewall/switch hardware/OS software
  • 4 Years of advanced installation/troubleshooting experience with Bluecoat internet Proxy servers
  • 4 Years utilizing VPN tunneling and telecommunication protocols
  • 4 Years of excellent understanding of Service Management environment, including operations, processes, etc
  • 4 Years of assisting teams in diagnosing network, application, and system/server issues using common network tools and monitoring systems such as Network TAP, Wireshark, Riverbed Pilot/Shark, and Splunk
  • 4 Years of prioritizing work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, including the resolution of escalated issues and events
  • 4 Years of working with Linux/Unix and Windows operating system internals, including system security
  • 4 Years of developing documentation (including LAN/WAN drawings and equipment lists) accurate and current
  • 4 Years of working with SIEM technology, Splunk
  • 4 Years of developing authentication and authorization protocols, experience in NAC technology (802.1x)
  • 4 Years of working independently and exercising reasonable discernment with little supervision while providing clear documentation of activities and accomplishments
  • 4 Years of knowledge of programming, such as Python and Shell; knowledge of Cloud networking and VoIP technology
