IT Support Specialist

Summary: The IT Support Specialist provides day-to-day technical support to office, production, warehouse, and retail employees. This role serves as the primary on-site IT resource, assisting users with hardware, software, and workplace technology while working closely with the company's external Managed Service Provider (MSP).

The MSP manages the company's network, M365, cybersecurity, user accounts, and IT infrastructure. The IT Support Specialist supports users by troubleshooting onsite issues, assisting with support requests, coordinating with the MSP when needed, and supporting IT projects led by the VP of Systems and Data Analytics.

Duties/Responsibilities:
•    Provide onsite and remote technical support for office, production, warehouse, and retail users.
•    Install, configure, and troubleshoot computers, laptops, monitors, printers, mobile devices, tablets, etc.
•    Assist users with software and workplace technology issues.
•    Help users submit IT requests and create support tickets when needed.
•    Work with the MSP to troubleshoot issues, perform onsite testing, install network hardware, and follow up on support requests.
•    Support conference room technology, phone systems, security cameras, and access control.
•    Set up equipment and workstations for new and seasonal employees.
•    Assist with hardware deployments, office moves, and IT implementation projects.
•    Perform basic network hardware tasks, including replacing switches, installing wireless access points (WAPs), running and labeling Ethernet cabling, replacing network patch cables, and assisting with onsite network upgrades under the direction of the VP or external MSP.
•    Maintain inventory of IT equipment and related documentation.

Technical Requirements:

  • Understanding of network infrastructure, including switches, wireless access points (WAPs), patch panels, and structured cabling.
  • Experience installing network equipment and troubleshooting physical network connectivity.
  • Ability to install and replace network switches under the guidance of the VP or external MSP.
  • Ability to run, terminate, label, and test Ethernet (Cat5e/Cat6) network cabling.
  • Install, mount, and replace wireless access points (WAPs).
  • Troubleshoot basic network connectivity issues and verify physical network connections.
  • Read and understand network topology diagrams to assist with onsite installations and troubleshooting.
  • Work collaboratively with the external MSP during network upgrades, hardware installations, and infrastructure changes.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of IT support or desktop support experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience troubleshooting computers, printers, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment.
  • Excellent organizational skills, and communication.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with internal teams and external IT providers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with a Managed Service Provider (MSP).
  • Experience supporting production, warehouse, or retail environments.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and IT ticketing platforms.
