Summary
 RTG is seeking an IT Field Service Technician with computer and data cabling experience to cover the New Jersey area. Candidates should be self-sufficient and possess technical and mechanical skills to support hardware installations, network troubleshooting/install, maintenance, and repairs. Candidates should also demonstrate good communication and customer service skills.

Network Device and Cabling Installation and Troubleshooting Experience is Required, Field Experience is Required, Knowledge of POS equipment is a plus. Previous restaurant experience a plus. 

Description:
 This position requires flexible work hours with extensive travel in the assigned area. Company provided vehicle; candidate must provide valid driver's license and maintain a clean motor vehicle record. Candidates will also be responsible for maintaining Van inventory of pos related parts. This is a Full-Time, Salaried position with paid Overtime.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Review and complete work orders to service and repair IT Equipment and Cabling in retail and restaurant environments. Such as network cabling, POS, Audio Systems, Drive Timers Routers, Switches and Battery Backups.
  • Install IT Equipment on the floor, on a shelf or in a wall mounted rack.
  • Install and mount equipment to walls, ceilings, and on counter tops.
  • Test, tone, repair and replace cat5e/cat6 voice and data cabling. 
  • Read installation and service guides to learn the correct installation or settings for equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, form a solution and complete the installation or repair of equipment.
  • Manage your own schedule by working with Dispatch and the Customer
  • Must meet service level agreement of the customer. 
  • Always practice proper communication and courtesy with the customer.
  • Manages own inventory levels and escalates when a part shortage occurs.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of networking hardware and topologies
  • Knowledge of computing systems hardware with the ability to provide break/fix support for desktop PC and/or servers and pos equipment.
  • Physical installation of a wide variety of hardware including routers, switches, WAPs, servers, POS systems, digital signage systems, and associated peripheral equipment.
  • Familiarity with cabling standards and the ability troubleshoot and repair cabling in a variety of customer environments.
  • Ability to operate cordless drills to mount devices into Brick, Stucco, Tile, and Drywall

Requirements:

  • 2 Years of IT Related Field Experience
  • 2 Year of Network Cabling Experience
  • Must be willing to travel within assigned region to meet customer SLAs.
  • On-call, after hours, and weekend work may be required.
  • Must possess a valid drivers’ license with good driving record.
  • Drug screening is required.
  • Ability to operate basic power tools, 
  • Must complete and pass RTG Field & Safety Training monthly.
  • Detail oriented with a sense of urgency and commitment to results.
  • Has the ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines?
  • Required Travel: Road Warrior
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs. or more
  • Capable of climbing a 12-foot ladder
  • Capable of Reaching and working above head
  • Capable of kneeling, bending, laying under cabinets/tables
  • Maintain residence within 45 Minutes of designated Service area.
  • Certifications: A+, Net+ are a plus but not necessary
  • Must Pass Drug Screen, RTG Approved Physical, and Motor Vehicle Record Check on annual basis as well as pre-employment.
