Systems Administrator

Do you enjoy working across technical teams to troubleshoot issues, automate processes, and support ongoing technology modernization?
About the Role
As a Systems Administrator, you will support the provisioning, configuration, operation, monitoring, and maintenance of systems, servers, tools, and related infrastructure. You will work with application, database, security, network, and development teams to keep environments stable, secure, and ready for ongoing technology modernization.
In this role, you will support Windows Server and application environments, troubleshoot infrastructure and application issues, automate operational processes, and assist with deployments, disaster recovery, and modernization initiatives.
Responsibilities
As a Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for:
  • Installing, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining Windows Server environments, system software, and supporting tools.
  • Supporting web and application server environments, including IIS, application pools, services, and configuration files.
  • Monitoring system availability, performance, logs, storage, scheduled jobs, and overall environment health.
  • Troubleshooting server, application, network, database connectivity, access, deployment, and performance issues.
  • Supporting backups, restores, disaster recovery exercises, patching, upgrades, and service recovery activities.
  • Creating and maintaining automation scripts using PowerShell or similar scripting tools.
  • Supporting scheduled batch processing, job monitoring, job failures, reruns, and operational reporting.
  • Supporting DevOps tools such as Azure DevOps, TFS, Git, build pipelines, release pipelines, and deployment automation.
  • Assisting with software builds, deployments, environment validation, release support, and rollback planning.
  • Supporting authentication and access management technologies such as Active Directory, service accounts, certificates, SSO, MFA, OAuth, OpenID Connect, and Okta.
  • Supporting API, messaging, and integration technologies such as REST APIs, API gateways, queueing platforms, and secure endpoint configuration.
  • Assisting with database environment support, including connectivity, logging, monitoring, backup coordination, and storage growth review.
  • Supporting monitoring, logging, performance testing, and reporting tools used to track application and infrastructure health.
  • Maintaining technical documentation, runbooks, configuration notes, deployment notes, and operational procedures.
  • Following change management, incident management, security, audit, and compliance processes.
  • Coordinating with vendors and internal teams to resolve infrastructure, application, tool, and integration issues.
  • Assisting with cloud readiness, server upgrade planning, environment inventory, and technology modernization activities.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is desired. Equivalent education, training, or experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of five years of systems administration or infrastructure support experience.
  • Experience with Windows Server administration.
  • Experience with IIS and web/application server support.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, TFS, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with Active Directory, Okta, SSO, MFA, OAuth, and OpenID Connect.
  • Experience with certificates, service accounts, and access management.
  • Experience with SQL Server or relational database support.
  • Experience with batch scheduling and operational job support.
  • Experience with REST APIs, API gateways, and messaging platforms.
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, performance testing, and reporting tools.
  • Experience with backup, restore, patching, upgrade, and disaster recovery support.
  • Knowledge of cloud readiness and infrastructure modernization concepts.
  • Experience supporting enterprise application environments across development, test, UAT, and production.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across servers, applications, databases, networks, access, and deployments.
  • Ability to work effectively with developers, business analysts, DBAs, security teams, network teams, vendors, and management.
  • Ability to document work clearly and follow operational, security, and change control processes.
  • Ability to support planned maintenance, deployments, production issues, or recovery activities when needed.

The estimated salary range for this role is ($69,300 - $90,000)
