Job Description

ERS currently offers opportunities that include flexible work schedules.
ERS is seeking a Network Administrator to perform routine to highly complex (journeylevel to seniorlevel) network administration duties as part of the Network Services Team within the Information Systems Division. Ensures the efficient and effective operation of the agency's data networking and Unified Communications (UC) systems by performing routine to highly complex work throughout the IT systems lifecycle, including planning, analysis, design, implementation, integration, evaluation, testing, security, documentation, training, monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, and decommissioning of existing and emerging technologies. Responsibilities range from implementing and supporting network infrastructure to leading the planning, design, integration, and execution of enterprise network initiatives and projects. May provide guidance to other staff on complex assignments. Works under moderate to limited supervision of the Network Services Manager, exercising moderate to considerable latitude for initiative, independent judgment, and decisionmaking.
Essential Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Perform routine to highly complex administration, monitoring, and technical support of enterprise network infrastructure technologies, including data center, backbone, edge, and office building wired and wireless systems.
  • Perform routine to highly complex administration and technical support of enterprise network security devices and technologies, including web and email filtering, network access and control systems, Virtual Private Networks, and firewalls.
  • Perform routine to highly complex administration and technical support of communications systems, including telephony, videoconferencing, and mobile/cellular communication devices, infrastructure, technologies, and services.
  • Create and modify documentation related to the operation of data network and UC systems.
  • Create, review, and modify procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Assist in researching, assessing, evaluating, and implementing new, upgraded, and developing systems, technologies, and standards to enhance agency enterprise IT operations.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Attend work regularly in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies.
  • Comply with all applicable agency policies and procedures, including safety, information security, and standards of conduct.
  • Perform oncall or scheduled after hours work as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Your application for employment must reflect how you meet each of the following minimum qualifications:
  1. Graduation from an accredited twoyear college or university with a degree in data processing, computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, or a related field; or graduation from an accredited twoyear technical school with a specialization in computer technology plus two years relevant experience. Two years of directly related work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for two years (60 semester hours) of the required college education.

Network Specialist III:
  1. Three (3) years of general experience in an enterprise technology environment in a role performing data network administration and support.

Network Specialist IV:
  1. Four (4) years of general experience in an enterprise technology environment in a role performing data network administration and support.
  2. One (1) year of experience supporting network security systems, such as firewalls, web/email filter systems, and/or network access control systems.

Preferred Qualifications: Your application for employment should reflect how you meet the following preferred qualifications:
  1. Experience in an enterprise technology environment performing advanced or seniorlevel data network administration and support.
  2. Experience supporting Cisco wired networking equipment.
  3. Experience supporting a Cisco wireless networking environment.
  4. Experience supporting network security systems, such as firewalls, web/email filter systems, and network access control systems.
  5. Experience administering and supporting telecommunications systems and solutions, including Unified Communications (UC) solutions.
