Position Opportunity

Alamance Foods is seeking a Network & System Support Specialist to provide hands-on support for network infrastructure, enterprise systems, and end-user technology. This role is responsible for maintaining reliable network connectivity, supporting business systems, assisting end users, and contributing to the organization's cybersecurity and IT compliance initiatives.

The ideal candidate enjoys a combination of physical infrastructure work, technical troubleshooting, and customer-facing support within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesInfrastructure & Network Support
  • Install, test, and troubleshoot network cabling, patch panels, and wall jacks.
  • Rack, stack, configure, and maintain network switches, wireless access points, and UPS devices.
  • Perform basic switch administration, including VLAN assignments and port configuration.
  • Monitor network health and respond to connectivity, performance, and infrastructure issues.
  • Support installation and maintenance of network infrastructure throughout manufacturing and office facilities.

Systems & End-User Support
  • Resolve Tier 1 and Tier 2 Help Desk requests involving Windows devices, printers, scanners, and business applications.
  • Deploy, image, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, handheld devices, and mobile equipment.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights using least-privilege principles.
  • Support conference room technology, VoIP systems, and basic server administration tasks.
  • Provide excellent customer service while troubleshooting technical issues across office and production environments.

Cybersecurity & Compliance
  • Support endpoint security initiatives, including EDR/antivirus, multi-factor authentication (MFA), software patching, and USB security policies.
  • Assist with vulnerability remediation and cybersecurity awareness initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with internal IT security policies and best practices.
  • Identify and escalate potential security concerns to IT leadership.

Documentation & Continuous Improvement
  • Maintain accurate IT asset inventories and network documentation.
  • Create and update technical documentation and knowledge base articles.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives designed to reduce recurring issues and improve system uptime.
  • Recommend improvements to IT processes, documentation, and user support.
QualificationsEducation/Training
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Experience
  • 1–3 years of experience in IT support, networking, systems administration, or infrastructure support.
  • Hands-on experience with network cabling, switch installation, wireless access points, and infrastructure troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Experience supporting users within manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environments preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesTechnical Skills
  • Strong understanding of LAN networking fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of VLANs, DHCP, DNS, subnetting, and Power over Ethernet (PoE).
  • Experience supporting Windows 10/11.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure Active Directory (Entra ID).
  • Basic understanding of server administration.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity fundamentals including endpoint protection, patch management, phishing awareness, and MFA.
