Description
This position involves work in clinic, hospital, and post-acute settings, providing patient care and clinical guidance to APPs to lead patient care. Working alongside the other Nephrologist/owner ensures adequate coverage across the continuum of care. Our goal is to support patients, customers, and mid-level providers to foster positive outcomes.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients with kidney-related conditions, including chronic kidney disease, electrolyte imbalances, and hypertension.
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans, incorporating dialysis management, medication adjustments, and lifestyle counseling.
- Perform procedures such as catheterization and basic suturing when necessary, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic to document patient encounters accurately and efficiently.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including radiology for medical imaging interpretation and endocrinology for metabolic management.
- Participate in outpatient clinics, inpatient consultations, and perioperative care to support patients across various settings.
Experience
- Medical degree from an accredited institution with board certification or eligibility in Nephrology.
- Proven experience in inpatient and outpatient nephrology care within hospital, post-acute, or clinic environments.
- Strong knowledge of physiology related to renal function, electrolyte management, and blood pressure regulation.
- Experience performing procedures including catheterization, dialysis access management, and wound care.
- Knowledge of medical coding (CPT/ICD) for accurate billing and documentation processes.
- Prior involvement in clinical research or participation in multidisciplinary teams focusing on complex patient cases is preferred.
