Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Leasing Consultant with an active Michigan Real Estate License to join our apartment community in Midland, MI.

This role is responsible for leasing market-rate apartment homes, providing exceptional customer service, maintaining occupancy goals, and ensuring a positive resident experience.

The community primarily consists of market-rate (conventional) apartments, with a small number of Section 8 units.

While the primary focus will be leasing and managing market-rate units, the Leasing Consultant may occasionally assist with Section 8 leasing and compliance activities.

The ideal candidate has experience in multifamily property management, enjoys working with residents, and has strong leasing, customer service, and sales skills. Experience with Section 8 or affordable housing programs is a plus but not required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to leasing inquiries by phone, email, and walk-in traffic.

  • Process rental applications, verify documentation, and coordinate move-ins.

  • Assist with lease renewals, resident retention, and occupancy management.

  • Maintain accurate resident files and leasing documentation.

  • Provide exceptional customer service to prospective and current residents.

  • Help achieve occupancy and leasing goals through proactive follow-up and outreach.

  • Coordinate with the property management and maintenance teams to ensure apartment readiness.

  • Assist with resident events and retention initiatives.

  • Maintain knowledge of Fair Housing regulations and company policies.

  • Support leasing and administrative activities for the property's Section 8 units as needed.

Required Qualifications
  • Active Michigan Real Estate License required.

  • Experience as a Leasing Consultant, Leasing Agent, or Property Leasing Professional in a multifamily community.

  • Strong customer service, communication, and sales skills.

  • Knowledge of Fair Housing regulations.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and property management software such as Yardi, RealPage, OneSite, AppFolio, Entrata, or similar.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with Section 8 or other affordable housing programs is preferred.

  • Experience with multifamily property management and resident relations.
