GP Strategies Government Solutions is seeking an experienced and enterprising Business Development and Capture Manager. The position provides an opportunity for an ambitious strategic seller to drive growth opportunities to power the Department of War (DOW) workforce to greater readiness, efficiency, agility, and innovation for the future. The ideal candidate has significant BD experience within a large Prime Contractor and/or at a midsized subcontractor tier company selling into both prime contractor and government customers. Significant experience and a track record of wins both as a prime and a subcontractor to other major contractors in manufacture and maintenance of weapons systems and platforms and an active relevant professional network in particular are strongly preferred. Preferred background would include Aerospace and Aviation background with experience working at and/or partnering with prime contractors such as Lockheed Martin, RTX, Northrop Grumman, Boeing, etc, and MAJCOM level mission training programs for example USAF AETC.

POSITION DETAILS:

Job Type: Full-time, base salary + commission

Pay Range: Competitive, based on experience

Work Locations: Remote position, with ability to travel frequently as required

Hiring Locations: Washington, D.C. Metro Area (Preferred); open remote USA-based applicants, with preferred proximity to significant customer locations


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute the companyโ€™s growth strategy in a key mission area, owning government and prime contractor opportunities
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities within the assigned customer and mission set
  • Build and manage a qualified pipeline maintaining minimum coverage of annual growth targets
  • Shape market awareness and specific opportunities by building capability statements, white papers, and solicitation responses
  • Establish and manage strategic teaming relationships with primes, OEMs, and subcontractors to expand addressable market access
  • Develop and execute capture plans aligned with customer acquisition strategies
  • Develop account management plans and opportunity capture strategies
  • Effectively represent and promote GP-Gov to customer stakeholders and decision-makers
  • Brief Leadership on pipeline projections and account management plans, documenting all business development activity and meetings in CRM
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years of experience in federal and prime contractor business development
  • Proven track record of consistent success in securing competitive government contracts within the assigned customer and mission set
  • Established professional network with target customers within the assigned customer and mission set, with strong preference for knowledge and networks within training, exercise, and range related customer set
  • Enterprising self starter with strategic mindset and exceptional business acumen to establish and implement business development direction
  • Experience applying the Shipley Business Development Lifecycle is preferred
  • Active participation in federal contracting and business development organizations such as NDIA, AFCEA, PSC, ACT-IAC, or NCMA is preferred
  • Experience with federal procurement databases (eg GovTribe, SAM.gov, FPDS) and CRM systems (eg Unanet) for managing business development pipelines and tracking opportunities
  • Exceptional negotiation skills with a proven ability to conclude complex government contracts
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree required; masterโ€™s degree, government service history or other relevant expertise or certifications are a plus
  • Capability to obtain and maintain a security clearance (existing Top Secret preferred)
