Nursing Academic Success Specialist (NCLEX Manager)



The Nursing Academic Success Specialist supports student progression and NCLEX-RN readiness through early identification of academic risk, targeted intervention, and structured remediation. The role leads coordination of student success initiatives, including early alert systems and NCLEX preparation strategies, to promote on-time progression, program completion, and first-time NCLEX success in alignment with California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) standards. This role ensures programmatic strategies support student success, licensure readiness, and regulatory compliance while collaborating with faculty, academic leadership, and student support services.


  • Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of early alert and academic intervention systems across all program levels.
  • Oversee NCLEX-RN readiness processes, including curriculum alignment, standardized testing integration (ATI, predictor exams), remediation planning, and predictive performance tracking.
  • Ensure compliance with California BRN regulations related to pre-licensure program outcomes, including NCLEX pass rates, cohort progression, eligibility, graduation readiness, and required reporting.
  • Monitor and analyze student performance data (ATI, course exams, progression metrics) to identify at-risk students and initiate early interventions.
  • Develop, implement, and track individualized academic success and remediation plans in collaboration with faculty and academic advisors, ensuring measurable outcomes. ? Collaborate with simulation, clinical, and didactic teams to ensure NCLEX test plan competencies and clinical judgment skills are embedded across the curriculum. ? Provide faculty development support on NCLEX integration strategies, assessment item analysis, and student success interventions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for BRN audits, program evaluation, and accreditation reporting requirements.
  • Analyze NCLEX pass rate trends and student performance data to support continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives.
  • Support students with NCLEX readiness preparation, including test-taking strategies, licensure application processes, exam scheduling, and compliance with eligibility requirements.
  • Ensure timely communication with students regarding NCLEX expectations, progression status, and remediation requirements..
  • Participate in curriculum committees to ensure alignment between program outcomes and NCLEX test plan updates.

Qualifications:

  • Active or eligible Registered Nurse (RN) license in California required.
  • Masterโ€™s degree in nursing (MSN) required; Doctorate preferred.
  • Minimum 3โ€“5 years of experience in nursing education, NCLEX preparation, or academic support/progression roles.
  • Strong understanding of California BRN regulations and NCLEX-RN test plan.
  • Experience with ATI, TEAS, Kaplan, or similar standardized testing platforms preferred.
