ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
If you know the carpentry trade, enjoy teaching others, and believe developing skilled builders is critical to the future of construction, we want to talk to you. As an NCCER Instructor, you'll combine your hands-on carpentry experience with NCCER curriculum to help build the knowledge, skills, and confidence of Okland's craft workforce. Working closely with the NCCER Program Manager, you'll deliver training that connects classroom learning to real-world construction and helps craft professionals grow in their careers. You'll thrive in this role if you can establish credibility with field teams, adapt your approach to different learning styles and experience levels, and create a learning environment where people are challenged, supported, and expected to grow.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY
Deliver Craft Training

• Facilitate NCCER carpentry curriculum through engaging classroom instruction, hands-on demonstrations, labs, and practical application.
• Translate technical concepts into clear, practical instruction that connects directly to safe and effective jobsite practices.
• Adapt instruction to different experience levels while maintaining consistent expectations and NCCER standards.
• Create a learning environment built on participation, accountability, safety, and respect for the craft.

Assess & Develop Craft Professionals

• Evaluate knowledge and skill development through NCCER assessments, performance profiles, and hands-on demonstrations.
• Provide clear, actionable coaching to help participants strengthen technical knowledge and hands-on craft skills.
• Partner with field leaders and Talent Development to identify skill gaps and align training with workforce and project needs.

Maintain NCCER Standards

• Deliver and document training in accordance with NCCER policies, procedures, curriculum requirements, and credentialing standards.
• Maintain accurate participant, assessment, completion, and credentialing records while keeping your NCCER Instructor Certification Training Program (ICTP) credential active and current.

YOU'RE READY FOR THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE

• Spanish fluency.
• 3+ years of NCCER instructional experience preferred; a combination of NCCER instruction and instructional experience with other recognized certification programs may be considered.
• An active Carpentry NCCER Instructor Certification Training Program (ICTP) credential.
• Strong working knowledge of carpentry means, methods, tools, materials, safety practices, and construction standards.
• Demonstrated ability to teach, demonstrate, and assess both technical knowledge and hands-on craft skills.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build credibility with craft professionals, field leaders, and other partners.
• Experience working in both classroom and active construction environments.
• Ability to travel to Okland projects, offices, or training locations as needed.
