Job description

As the Senior Product Manager for Basketball Apparel NCAA + Partnerships, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of adidas Basketball by creating products that connect our brand with some of the most recognized NCAA programs and strategic partners in the game. You'll lead the development of innovative uniforms, performance apparel, and partnership collections from concept to market, blending athlete insights, consumer trends, and business opportunities into compelling product stories. Working closely with Design, Development, Sports Marketing, Licensing, Go-to-Market, and external partners, you'll champion product excellence while ensuring every collection authentically reflects both adidas Basketball and our partners' identities. This role requires a strong product point of view, the ability to navigate multiple stakeholders and seasons simultaneously, and a passion for delivering industry-leading products that inspire athletes and elevate the brand.

 

 

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization

  • Set and execute the category direction for NCAA and Partnerships
  • Work with creation functions to deliver product concepts from brief to GTM Milestones
  • Create product ranges with both a brand and commercial point of view
  • Bring athlete and consumer insights into concepts
  • Partner with NCAA basketball teams and strategic basketball partners to authentically showcase adidas Basketball and team brand identities

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and lead the execution of seasonal product strategies for NCAA, leveraging sales data, consumer insights and competitive analysis and inline product.
  • Show full understanding of the product creation process while managing all tasks within given time frames
  • Build and maintain strong cross functional partnerships that create an efficient product creation process with strong understanding of calendar and systems milestones
  • Partner with go to market to create best in class samples and sales tools while meeting margin targets
  • Oversee end-to-end product lifecycle performance, using data-driven insights to optimize assortments, pricing, and inventory productivity and propose action steps
  • Strong knowledge of product information systems and the interlinking functions – clarity on respective timelines
  • Good level of product expertise to create industry leading products
  • Understand uniform, performance apparel, accessories and graphics product creation processes
  • Maintain updated knowledge of key competitors, products, and pricing strategies
  • Be considered as a range expert by markets and retailers
  • Prepare and present ranges and business-related topics - with respective audience in mind - by using relevant structure and content
  • Own communication with teams/partners/global counterparts on global basketball direction while honouring contractual needs
  • Work independently on projects and follow up on project development
  • Be flexible in product and range ownership for both long term and short-term planning
  • Conduct continual athlete, market and trend research to identify opportunities for growth. Identify product opportunities through regular hindsight that incorporates trends, consumer research, channel feedback, and sales analysis.
  • Lead basketball POV across multiple different third-party licensee partners

    • NCAA teams and partners in sports marketing and licensing
    • Cross-functional teams: Design, Development, Go To Market, Materials, Costing, Planning, Sports Marketing, External Partners, Global Business Units

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications

  • College degree, preferably in marketing/business /textile/fashion
  • Minimum of 8 years Product Marketing experience with apparel background
  • Specialization in uniform and performance creation preferred
  • Ability to communicate product direction in an effective manner
  • Proven ability to lead a cross-functional team and work in a collaborative environment
  • Excellent communication skills - interpersonal, written and verbal
  • Excellent presentation skills with strong ability to influence and obtain buy-in from internal and external partners and leadership
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, being able to juggle multiple seasons at any given time
  • Ability to foster a positive and motivating work environment
  • Ability to engage and inspire cross-functional team members and stakeholders
  • Fluent in English  
  • PC skills (MS Office programs, especially PowerPoint and Excel)
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills

  • Employees are eligible to earn an annual bonus based on both company and personal performance. Employees accrue prorated flexible time off in the amount .4388 hours per day that increases with years of service, twelve paid holidays throughout the calendar year and Service Time Off during milestone years.
  • The anticipated low and high end of the base pay range for this position is $131,500 - $161,500. Actual salary will be based on various factors, such as a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills and competencies, proficiency for the role.
  • At adidas we offer a Hybrid work policy which requires attendance in the office Monday through Thursday, with the flexibility to work remotely on Friday each week. For work requiring a high degree of collaboration or an in-person presentation, in-office attendance is required even on Friday. The working location of this position is Los Angeles, California.
