Job description

Description SAIC is looking for a CANES Instructor in San Diego, CA. A challenging instructor position that equips military students with the knowledge and skills to perform operations, system configuration, system administration, network monitoring, troubleshooting, fault isolation, and restoration of Navy communication systems and networks. The instructor works under general direction and well-established procedures, but may also receive detailed instructions on new projects or assignments. Work is evaluated on soundness of judgment, overall instructor and technical support performance and accuracy, team collaboration and support, and customer satisfaction. Instruction of evening classes is occasionally required, but typically less than 20% of the year. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Responsibilities include: • Developing, evaluating and executing training programs and activities to meet customer requirements and team learning and performance objectives • Preparing training materials and lab equipment for course delivery • Setting up and instructing both classroom and practical hands-on portions of each course • Performing system administration and maintenance on course technical training equipment • Preparing and instructing courses using standard Navy training practices and procedures • Collaborating with team members and customer personnel to develop, enhance, and evaluate new or existing learning objectives and course content • Monitoring and evaluating training programs, assessing results, and recommending and implementing enhancements - Developing and submitting periodic reports Qualifications REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/CERTIFICATIONS: Formal Instructor Training (one of the following):
- Navy's Instructor Training Course (NITC), or a prior military instructor course
- Industry Training Certification (e.g., Microsoft Certified Trainer or CompTIA Certified Technical Trainer certification (CTT+)
- Formal teaching degree or certification
- Master Training Specialist (MTS) qualification (preferred but not required) Experience: Relevant technical/IT bachelors degree and 3 years of relevant experience, or 7 years combined experience (in lieu of a degree) in:
- Instructing courses
- Providing technical support for course curriculum
- Providing technical support (i.e., system administration or maintenance) for any shipboard network systems and/or
network cyber security positions, such as:
1. CANES
2. ADNS
3. ISNS
4. CENTRIXS
5. SubLAN
6. SCI Networks
7. NTCSS
8. NSVT
9. ISSM
10. HBSS Must have Secret level security clearance. Certifications: Must be able to obtain the following certifications within 6 months of hire:
- CompTIA Security+ ce
- Cisco CCNA or Microsoft Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
