Job description

The Teleport Maintenance Technician will perform preventative and corrective maintenance on satellite communications systems and equipment.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Troubleshoot and repair satellite communication systems and equipment
  • Perform Preventive Maintenance on communication and facilities equipment
  • Conduct building and facility maintenance, inspections, cleaning, and minor repairs
  • Provide coordination and assistance for system installations
  • Be available to provide assistance outside of normal working hours
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills:

  • Must have a valid Driver's License with good driving history
  • Must be able to troubleshoot electronic equipment to the component level
  • Must be familiar with generators and uninterruptable power systems
  • Must be familiar with HVAC, boilers, and cooling systems
  • Must be able to obtain certification to operate fork lifts and boom lifts
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Must be able to climb and work at various heights on antenna structures
  • Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather
  • Must be able to work in small spaces
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds
  • Knowledge of U.S. Navy CMS program preferred
  • Knowledge of U.S. Navy 3M program preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel preferred

Required Experience:

  • Military satellite communications SHF or EHF operator course or equivalent accredited college/commercial education required
  • 3 years' experience in satellite communications equipment operations and maintenance required
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must possess the required education and/or certification IAW (or higher than) the DCWF Work Role ID 441 Basic (IT BS degree, CND, or Network+)
  • Must have completed the 301 section of the JQR for Gateway Operator/Maintainer (or equivalent)
  • Must possess a Secret Clearance.
