What You'll Do:
As a Communications Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting the development, integration, testing, and retrofit of P-8A Poseidon avionics systems. In this role, you will directly support Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR)'s Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Aircraft Program (PMA-290), contributing to complex communications and avionics engineering efforts. This position is based at Naval Air Station Patuxent River and/or our corporate office in Lexington Park, MD.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze, design, integrate, test, and troubleshoot advanced communications systems, including CDL, HF/HF-IP, V/UHF, SATCOM, MIDS-JTRS, Link 11/16/22, IBS, ICS, MUOS, INMARSAT, and Starshield.
  • Perform RF system analysis (e.g., link budgets, co-site interference), evaluate system performance, and recommend design improvements.
  • Assess avionics system and subsystem design maturity and provide technical recommendations.
  • Develop and review engineering analyses, technical reports, and change proposals.
  • Apply systems engineering principles to support the full lifecycle of military communications systems-from design through test and evaluation.
  • Support system integration activities, including configuration management, quality assurance testing, and acquisition processes.
  • Lead coordination with technical authorities and SMEs to verify requirements, including ground and flight test data needs.
  • Contribute to Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and Technical Directives (TDs), including risk identification and resolution.
  • Support production and quality assessments of in-production subsystems.
  • Provide input to monthly contract and program status reports.

Requirements
What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering preferred; Associate's degree in a technical field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in industry, government, or military environments.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with NAVAIR engineering processes and Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) activities is a plus.
  • Understanding of requirements decomposition and system design integration.
  • Experience with RCCA, FRACAS, and DCMA acceptance procedures (including non-conformance) preferred.
  • Configuration Management experience required, with the ability to integrate requirements across multiple systems.
  • Experience with Tactical Data Links (development, integration, or certification) highly desired.

Salary Range:
  • The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $120,000 - $170,000, commensurate with an individual's experience, qualifications, and skill set. ASEC is committed to providing fair and equitable compensation. The low end of this salary range is accounting for a candidate that meets all of the listed minimum requirements.
