Natural Gas Compressor Mechanic
JOB Description:
The Natural Gas Compressor Mechanic is a multi-skilled position that is responsible for the maintenance of gathering system compressor stations. Other responsibilities will be to perform duties related to the disassembly, positioning, reassembly and testing of moderate to highly complex equipment utilizing a combination of manual, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools for fitting, adjusting, and securing maneuvers. The Gas Compressor Mechanic will clean, inspect and repair natural gas engine and compressor components. Work as team to perform overhauls and rebuilds to equipment.
Daily documentation of equipment, performing housekeeping, maximizing throughput, performing maintenance on engines, compressors, separators, generators, flares, dehy's and VRU's as needed.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain structural, mechanical and electrical equipment and/or auxiliary equipment at Natural Gas Facilities.
  • Have strong mechanical aptitude with oil and gas background as well as the ability to use a wide range of mechanical tools and test equipment
  • Safely and accurately operate equipment as assigned
  • Identify, report, and mitigate problems or hazardous conditions that occur during equipment disassembly, assembly, and test set-up
  • Troubleshoot and perform maintenance on mechanical tooling and equipment
  • Lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Technical ability to overhaul compressors, engines, turbines, motors, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Provide training to other company personnel on proper operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment.
  • Perform engine/compressor performance analysis.
  • Interpret lubricating oil, coolant, and other operating reports.
  • Responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of all Natural Gas facilities and equipment as needed.
  • Oversee/inspect the construction and/or maintenance activities performed by third parties.
  • Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
  • Maintain and control suitable spare parts inventory, tooling, etc.
  • Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork as required.
  • Perform all work in compliance with company standards, procedures, and regulatory and tariff requirements.
  • Read and edit technical drawings to ensure all components work as designed in a broader Naturel Gas system
  • Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence.
  • Maintain a regular, dependable attendance, and high level of job performance.
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the public.
  • Liaison with Management and Operations in assuring regulatory compliance and outage/PM schedules
  • Available for weekend and after hours calls from on-duty personnel pertaining to equipment repairs and outages.
  • Identify, report and correct safety and environmental concerns
  • Complete daily, weekly and monthly reports, documentation and filing paperwork
  • Must actively participate in safety programs and initiatives
  • Understand and support clients reporting procedures for abnormal operations, safety and environmental conditions
  • Respond to emergencies, perform cleanup associated with field ops and corrosion control activities
  • Increase communication to client's supervisors regarding safety and environmental concerns as well as provide potential solutions for corrective actions
  • Follow and promote good housekeeping practices and properly maintain equipment and vehicles
  • Follow ShalePro Energy Services fatigue program
  • Regularly required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work Days, Nights, Weekends & Holidays

Skills and Abilities:
Ability to:
  • Perform all essential duties.
  • Demonstrate customer service skills.
  • Read, write and speak English (work orders, manuals, etc.)
  • Model all health, safety and environmental procedures.
  • Use computer skills, including vendor specific programs (Cat, Waukesha, Ariel, Murphy, etc.), Internet Explorer and Outlook.
  • Regularly complete and submit company required documentation in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Respond to afterhours request on an on-call basis.
  • Ability to work 12-16 Hours straight while managing rest during time off.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Strong mechanical and electrical skills and knowledge
  • Customer focused
  • Preferred experience in maintaining natural gas compression equipment, including natural gas engines, compressors, control panels, skid wiring and conduit, end devices, tubing, vessels, and coolers
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record
  • Proficient English language skills (reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension)
  • Computer skills, including ability to use Microsoft Office
  • Ability to pass drug screens, background checks and drivers
  • Prefer knowledge of proper purging and loading practices and procedures
