Job description

Overview
The Compressor Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of natural gas compression equipment in field and facility settings. This role focuses on ensuring reliability and efficiency of compression systems by performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing mechanical issues, and supporting safe, continuous operations.
Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on large horsepower compressor units and engines
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical issues on compressors, engines, and related systems
  • Conduct preventative maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, and component inspections
  • Work on major compressor components such as cylinders, valves, pistons, rods, and bearings
  • Maintain and repair associated equipment including coolers, separators, and control systems
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reliability
  • Complete teardown and rebuilds of compressor engines and components as needed
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and P&IDs
  • Ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities and repairs
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies, including LOTO and PPE requirements
  • Coordinate with operations and engineering teams to minimize downtime and optimize performance

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience working on large horsepower compressors and engines
  • Experience with compressor brands such as Ariel, Caterpillar, Waukesha, or Ajax preferred
  • Strong knowledge of natural gas compression systems and engine mechanics
  • Experience performing full overhauls and rebuilds on compressor units
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and performance issues independently
  • Familiarity with safety standards and procedures in oil and gas environments
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Must meet conditional job offer requirements including background, drug test, MVR, fit for duty and agility.
