Job description

Put Your Technical Aptitude and Customer Service Skills to Work

Do you enjoy solving technical problems, helping customers, and learning how mechanical equipment works?

National Pump Company is looking for a technical problem solver who thrives on helping customers find the right solution. While the title is Applications Engineer I, this is not a traditional design engineering role. Instead, you'll become a trusted technical resource, helping customers, distributors, and sales representatives select the right pump solutions for their applications.

If you're someone who enjoys combining technical knowledge with exceptional customer service, this is an opportunity to build a rewarding career with an industry leader.

What You'll Do

Every day is different. In this role, you'll work directly with customers and internal teams to provide technical guidance and application support for our pump products. You'll answer questions, recommend solutions, prepare quotations, troubleshoot application issues, and help ensure customers receive the right product for their needs.

You'll collaborate closely with Sales, Engineering, Production, and Operations while becoming an expert in National Pump Company's products and applications.

Your day may include:

  • Solving technical challenges for customers and distributors.
  • Helping customers identify the best pump solution for their application.
  • Providing technical support by phone and email.
  • Reviewing specifications and recommending products.
  • Preparing quotations and supporting documentation.
  • Troubleshooting product and application questions.
  • Coordinating with internal departments to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Building long-term customer relationships through responsive, knowledgeable service.

We're Looking for Someone Who…

You're naturally curious and enjoy figuring out how things work. Whether you've gained that experience through engineering, manufacturing, industrial customer service, technical support, inside sales, or hands-on mechanical work, you like solving problems and helping others.

Successful candidates are:

  • Technical problem solvers who enjoy analyzing customer needs and recommending solutions.
  • Strong communicators who can explain technical information in a way customers understand.
  • Customer-focused professionals who enjoy building relationships.
  • Mechanically inclined and eager to learn.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Collaborative team players who enjoy working across departments.

Ideal Backgrounds

We welcome candidates with experience in:

  • Technical Customer Service
  • Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • Manufacturing
  • Industrial Equipment
  • Pumps, Motors, or Mechanical Systems
  • Technical Sales Support
  • Industrial Distribution
  • Mechanical Maintenance
  • Water or Wastewater Industries
  • HVAC or Fluid Handling Systems

An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field is preferred. Equivalent experience supporting industrial or mechanical products in a customer-focused environment will also be considered.

Why Join National Pump Company?

We'll teach you our products—you bring the curiosity, communication skills, and desire to solve problems.

Through extensive training and mentorship, you'll become a trusted technical advisor, helping customers solve real-world challenges while building a long-term career with an industry leader.

This Role Is Perfect For Someone Who...

✔ Loves solving technical problems

✔ Enjoys helping customers succeed

✔ Has strong mechanical aptitude

✔ Wants to become an expert in industrial pump applications

✔ Prefers collaborating with customers and coworkers over sitting behind CAD software all day

✔ Wants to build a meaningful, long-term career

  • If you're a technical problem solver who enjoys helping customers and wants to make an impact, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today and discover why National Pump Company is a great place to grow your career.
