National Grid is hiring a Lead SCADA Engineer.  This role operates under a hybrid working model and is located in Northboro, MA location.  Requirements may vary based on business needs and company policy.  

Job Purpose

The National Grid Service Delivery CNI department has an opening in the Gas SCADA group to support activities associated with the maintenance, monitoring, and installation of gas telemetry, instrumentation, and controls for the Gas SCADA system. This position will have primary responsibility to support maintenance, design, and installation of remote terminal units (RTU's), gas system instrumentation and controls, telecommunication systems, gas metering, and gas quality systems. The position will also support day to day activities associated with the maintenance of the Gas SCADA system.

Key Accountabilities
  • Responsible for the design, configuration, installation oversight, and support of repair and maintenance for all monitoring and control equipment including, electronic sensing devices, flow computers, Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), data communications equipment and services, computer hardware, and other gas telemetry devices.
  • Assures proper installation, reliability, accuracy, and maintenance of all computer hardware and supporting control systems associated with National Grid's Gas Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system.
  • Involved in the programming of flow computers, remote terminal units, and programmable logic controllers used to monitor and control the gas distribution system. 
  • Coordinate with operating and maintenance personnel to provide for proper calibration, repair and maintenance of gas measurement and telemetry equipment at custody transfer points, and large volume customers to ensure the accuracy of field equipment.
  • Work with field technicians and telecom providers to support operation and upgrades of the telemetry equipment and communications infrastructure such as MPLS, CDMA, satellite, and radio.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline required.
  • Must be able to analyze operational requirements in a highly logical manner and be able to recommend modifications and improvements based on a thorough knowledge of computer processes and existing gas control system designs.
  • Analytical ability and technical skills to troubleshoot issues with field telemetry and control systems is desirable.
  • Project management skills to design, develop and oversee the commissioning of new computer systems, communications networks, and remotely controlled regulating stations is desirable.
  • Coordination and supervisory skills sufficient to direct maintenance and repair activities.
  • Technical expertise sufficient to interact with technical professionals in all areas of the company to make decisions directly impacting control system design, installation and operation.
  • Must be a proactive problem solver with a high energy level and possess the ability to quickly remedy problems as they arise.
