About the Opportunity

UHC Construction Services, a family-owned National Commercial General Contractor, is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead fast-paced commercial construction projects across the country.

This role is ideal for someone who is self-motivated, action-driven, highly organized, and comfortable taking ownership of the jobsite. The Superintendent will manage onsite execution, subcontractor coordination, safety compliance, quality standards, project workflow, schedule tracking, and field communication.

UHC is looking for a field leader who can solve problems in real time, lead under pressure, anticipate unforeseen conditions, and keep projects moving forward through strong planning and communication. Average project size typically ranges from $2 million to $5 million.

This is not a general labor role. The focus is jobsite leadership, subcontractor management, scheduling, documentation, quality control, and field execution.

UHC serves national retail, restaurant, hospitality, grocery, healthcare, automotive, pharmacy, food service, warehouse, and commercial clients through remodels, rollouts, build-outs, and ground-up projects. The company operates throughout 46 states and is known for quality, attention to detail, and long-standing client relationships.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage onsite execution of fast-paced commercial remodels, build-outs, rollouts, and ground-up construction projects.
  • Lead daily jobsite operations, subcontractors, vendors, client vendors, deliveries, inspections, and field activity.
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings.
  • Conduct weekly onsite subcontractor meetings.
  • Communicate in a timely manner with the Project Manager when issues arise.
  • Read, understand, and implement the project schedule, including tracking milestones.
  • Review and understand construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project requirements.
  • Develop weekly 3-week look-ahead projections to maintain schedule and identify potential issues.
  • Maintain a safety-compliant jobsite and reinforce safety expectations.
  • Manage receiving and inventory of materials.
  • Communicate material deficiencies or issues with project coordinators.
  • Provide daily electronic jobsite reports, progress updates, photos, and documentation.
  • Support the Project Management Team in implementing project procedures, working documents, and standards.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, client vendors, and inspections.
  • Manage company assets and jobsite logistics.
  • Maintain accurate as-built drawings.
  • Identify problems early and help facilitate practical field solutions.
  • Help ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to UHC’s quality standards.

What We’re Looking For

  • Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Commercial Construction Superintendent.
  • Experience managing large-scope retail, commercial remodel, build-out, rollout, or ground-up construction projects.
  • Proven ability to manage, coach, and lead subcontractors and field teams to drive project success.
  • Strong understanding of construction schedules, sequencing, drawings, specifications, safety, quality control, and closeout.
  • Ability to manage fast-paced projects with tight deadlines and changing field conditions.
  • Highly collaborative work style with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple priorities on-site.
  • Experience with digital jobsite reporting.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook, and standard project documentation tools.
  • Willingness to travel for assigned projects.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must provide a list of completed projects as Superintendent.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Experience with national commercial clients or multi-site programs.
  • Experience in food service, pharmacy, superstores, fine dining, retail, grocery, automotive service centers, warehouse, hospitality, healthcare, or related commercial markets.
  • Experience working in live, occupied, or fast-paced commercial environments.
  • Experience maintaining 3-week look-ahead schedules.
  • Willingness to learn and implement company-required digital jobsite reporting programs.

What Makes Someone Successful Here

  • You are comfortable taking ownership of the jobsite.
  • You can lead subcontractors, vendors, and field teams without constant oversight.
  • You communicate quickly and clearly when issues arise.
  • You understand that schedule delays need to be identified and addressed early.
  • You can read drawings, follow specifications, and keep field work aligned with project requirements.
  • You stay organized while managing safety, quality, materials, inspections, and daily reporting.
  • You bring urgency, professionalism, and a team-first mindset to every project.
  • You can lead under pressure and proactively solve problems before they affect the schedule.

Compensation & Benefits

  • 1099 contract position.
  • Competitive compensation based on project assignment, location, duration, and experience.
  • Project-based travel assignments.
  • Opportunity to work on national commercial projects across multiple industries.
  • Support from office Operations and Project Management teams.

Growth & Development

UHC provides opportunities for experienced Superintendents to support a wide range of national commercial projects.
