What are NASG (Non-pneumatic Anti-Shock Garments)?

NASG, or Non-pneumatic Anti-Shock Garments, are medical devices used primarily in emergency care to stabilize women suffering from obstetric hemorrhage (severe bleeding during or after childbirth). The garment is wrapped around the lower body to apply pressure and temporarily reverse hypovolemic shock by shunting blood to vital organs such as the heart, lungs, and brain. NASGs are especially beneficial in low-resource settings where immediate access to surgery or blood transfusions may not be available. They are reusable, easy to apply, and can help save lives when used as part of a comprehensive emergency response.
