Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. The successful candidate is expected to report to the GM Performance and Racing Center in Pontiac, Michigan on a full-time basis.

The Role

At GM Motorsports, we are driven by a clear purpose: to accelerate our teams' ability to win on the racetrack and in the marketplace. We are looking for people who share our mindset and core values - ownership in organizational success, a commitment to add value to our team, and the courage to reject mediocrity in pursuit of exceptional results.

The Motorsports Design and Test Propulsion Engineer supports the execution and continued development of Chevrolet's NASCAR propulsion program. In this role, you will collaborate closely with key partner engine builders and teams, GM Performance and Racing Center engineering, production development, and Virtual Design, Development and Validation (VDDV) to deliver competitive, reliable propulsion systems that advance GM motorsports and non-production initiatives.

  • Collaborate effectively across multiple functions, including design, calibration, testing, manufacturing, and VDDV.

  • Work with suppliers to communicate technical requirements, manage changes, and resolve engineering issues.

  • Plan, execute, and analyze non-firing driveline tests in support of development and validation activities.

  • Partner with key race teams to identify performance, reliability, and process improvement opportunities.

  • Collaborate with the GM VDDV organization to define inputs, boundary conditions, and models needed for analytical studies.

  • Summarize and communicate test and analysis results to stakeholders, capturing key learnings and best practices for reuse across programs.

  • Willingness and ability to travel 3-6 times per year (e.g., partner facilities, tests, and race events).

  • Ability to maintain composure and sound judgment in high-pressure, time-critical situations while meeting engine technical support requirements.

  • Demonstrated competencies in leadership, communications, problem solving, teamwork, courage, and drive for results.

  • Evidence of strong character, including integrity, honesty, accountability, and trust.
