Job description

At Ford Motor Company, we believe freedom of movement drives human progress. We also believe in providing you with the freedom to define and realize your dreams. With our incredible plans for the future of mobility, we have a wide variety of opportunities for you to accelerate your career potential as you help us define tomorrow's transportation.
In 1901, Henry Ford designed and built the racecar called "Sweepstakes." On October 10 that year, he drove Sweepstakes against Alexander Winton, a famous racer and builder, and against all odds Ford won. That was the beginning - "the race that changed the world" - and it continues today. From our victories at Le Mans in 1966 and again fifty years later in 2016, to championships in NASCAR, and other series across the globe, the spirit of Henry Ford lives with us every day through our motorsports efforts around the world.
Ford Racing is looking for an experienced, talented, and highly motivated Motorsports Powertrain Design Engineer to join our Global Motorsports department.
In this position...
Candidates will have the opportunity to work in a highly dynamic environment, developing cutting edge powertrains to race around the world.
This is a hybrid position and requires at least 4 days onsite in either Allen Park, MI or Concord, NC.
Responsibilities
What you'll do...
  • Design and development of powertrain systems (engine / transmission / driveline) and components for Ford Racing Motorsports programs. Programs will include race applications as well as "one-off" high-performance demonstration vehicles.
  • Create 3D parametric component/assembly models and 2D detailed drawings for manufacturing and assembly within CATIA V5.
  • Manage CAD models/drawings within Teamcenter Engineering PDM.
  • Construct and manage powertrain Bill of Materials.
  • Work with suppliers, race teams and sanctioning organizations concerning hardware specifications and regulations.

Qualifications
You'll have...
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or similar related engineering field (Master's preferred).
  • 3+ years of engine and/or driveline design and/or development experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in Computer Aided Design, preferably CATIA V5.

Even better, you may have...
  • 5+ years of engine and/or driveline design and/or development experience.
  • Experience with engineering analysis software.
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing practices.
  • Strong communication skills and competency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Strong overall knowledge of vehicle and powertrain functions.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and capabilities (machining, fabrication, casting, etc).
  • Strong team player, with ability to interact across functions, and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment with high responsibility.
  • Possess a competitive spirit and interest in professional motorsports.
  • International and Domestic travel may be required.

As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice. You can choose what your Ford future will look like: will your story span the globe, or keep you close to home? Will your career be a deep dive into what you love, or a series of new teams and new skills? Will you be a leader, a changemaker, a technical expert, a culture builder...or all of the above? No matter what you choose, we offer a work life that works for you, including:
  • Immediate medical, dental, vision and prescription drug coverage.
  • Flexible family care days, paid parental leave, new parent ramp-up programs, subsidized back-up child care and more.
  • Family building benefits including adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement, fertility treatments, and more.
  • Vehicle discount program for employees and family members and management leases.
  • Tuition assistance.
  • Established and active employee resource groups.
  • Paid time off for individual and team community service.
  • A generous schedule of paid holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year's Day.
  • Paid time off and the option to purchase additional vacation time.

This position is a salary grade 5 - 8 and ranges from $65,100 - $166,200.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
