Job description

Overview
The Security Police Officer - EMR (Emergency Medical Responder) provides first response to emergencies; enforcing federal law and assimilated state law; conducting mobile patrols, inspections and searches; conducting traffic enforcement and traffic investigations; initiating an arrest and transporting persons; perform protective service work such as guarding NASA owned or leased buildings and property; protecting NASA equipment and material; controlling access to NASA installations by employees, visitors, and residents; and other duties as assigned. This is an armed, union position.
ALL positions begin as Part-Time with the option to bid on a full-time position when one becomes available.
Responsibilities
  • Enforcement of Federal, State and Local law as required.
  • Will carry out general and special orders for post assigned.
  • Will communicate via radio, telephone and orally according to orders.
  • Required to interact and escort as required with public and government personnel.
  • Will provide access control, traffic control and conduct walking and motorized armed security functions.
  • Will follow applicable standard operating procedures and NASA regulations pertaining to security of weapons, buildings, personnel, NASA property and equipment.
  • Will conduct personnel, vehicular, building, & facility checks and package & parcel inspections.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to include weekends and holidays if needed.

Qualifications
  • Current Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) or greater certification through the State of Ohio.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
  • Must complete the NASA Federal Arrest Authority Basic Course (academy) within first 90 days of employment.
  • BLS/CPR certified.
  • Honorably discharged (If applicable).
  • Must be able to possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to obtain a SECRET government security clearance.
  • Preferred, 1 year military or law enforcement experience.
  • Preferred, possession of a diploma or certificate as a graduate of a Federal, State, or local law enforcement agency; or military services recognized basic law enforcement or physical security training academy.
