Job description

MWD/LWD Lead Field Engineer I

Company: Native Navigation

Location: Field-Based (100% Travel / Wellsite)

Type: Full-Time

Who We Are

At Native Navigation, we deliver precision and reliability where it matters most. We’re looking for a sharp, self-driven MWD/LWD Lead I to join our elite field operations team. If you thrive in fast-paced environments, possess rock-solid technical intuition, and are ready to take ownership of high-stakes drilling operations, you’ll fit right in.

The Role: What You’ll Do

As our Lead Field Engineer, you are the frontline guardian of data accuracy and tool reliability. You won't just run equipment; you will own the process—from pre-job prep to real-time troubleshooting at the wellsite.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Master the Tech: Run, test, and troubleshoot M/LWD tools and equipment before, during, and after every run to ensure flawless execution and zero down-time.

  • Collaborate at the Rig: Partner closely with the Directional Driller (DD) to review BHA compatibility, establish optimal operating parameters, and align tool face references.

  • Own the Data: Monitor multiple screens, analyze real-time logs, and maintain meticulous, accurate records. You know what "good" looks like and catch discrepancies before they become issues.

  • Client & Team Liaison: Act as a key point of contact for external clients and internal teams, representing Native Navigation with top-tier professionalism.

  • Continuous Improvement: Keep us sharp. Participate in performance and safety initiatives to help us continuously elevate our field operations.

What You Bring to the Table

This isn't a desk job. It requires a unique blend of high-level cognitive focus, mechanical grit, and adaptability.

Must-Haves:

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience as an MWD/LWD Field Engineer.

  • Tool Expertise: Proven track record running Tensor-based MP and EM tools interfacing with the Polaris logging system.

  • Tech Savvy: Strong mechanical aptitude combined with the ability to easily navigate proprietary software, MS Office, and laptop setups.

  • Focus & Grit: Exceptional visual acuity and attention to detail. You must be comfortable monitoring data feeds and screens for extended, uninterrupted periods.

  • Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States with no restrictions.

  • Mobility: A valid driver’s license is required.

The Lifestyle Reality:

  • 100% Travel: You are fully mobile and comfortable living at wellsites for extended stretches.

  • Weather-Proof: Ready to work in any and all weather conditions.

  • Flexibility: This is the oilfield—you must be comfortable working without a rigid schedule or guaranteed days off.

Why Native Navigation?

We value integrity, precision, and safety above all else.

Please Note: Native Navigation is a strictly drug-free workplace. All candidates must fully comply with our comprehensive drug testing policies.

Ready to Lead?

If you have the drive, the experience, and the grit to join our team, we want to hear from you.
