Be Pro Be Proud Program Video
Be Pro Be Proud Alabama
Positive energy, passion, and a high level of integrity are critical for this role.
This program is called "Be Pro Be Proud", and this specific tour will run solely in the state of Alabama. Be Pro Be Proud is aimed at engaging high school students, exploring careers in various skilled trades such as commercial driving, welding, heavy equipment operation, and more. Maybe you have a story to tell that will resonate with high schoolers looking for the next chapter in their life. Do you have a background working with and/or educating high schoolers? Are you able to engage young people in a positive way? Do you have a high-energy, positive, patient, and encouraging personality? Do you have an impeccable commercial driving record? If yes, then we need to talk.
What You'll Be Doing
The fundamental goal of this position is to engage and excite high school students about skilled trade careers. But, a lot goes on behind the scenes to achieve this...
  • We'll train you to set up this custom, double-expandable trailer and to operate all of the various interactive stations and simulators onboard the trailer
  • You'll travel the state of Alabama, typically Monday - Friday
    • Specific schedules may vary from week to week, and between school districts
    • Breaks are built around the school schedule, such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Summers
  • As a licensed Class A CDL driver, you will drive the event Tractor/Trailer (what we call the "Mobile Workshop") to each event/school site to set up for the day
  • Execute the day's event, and pack up for the next day's event in partnership with a Brand Ambassador
  • You'll ensure the event trailer and all interactive exhibits and simulators are clean, safe, operational, and event-ready
  • You'll be expected to assist in delivering the Be Pro Be Proud message (in partnership with the Brand Ambassador) to all of the students during these events and assist them with the interactive components of the trailer (approximately 25-30 students per class onboard the event trailer, generally about 150 students per day)
  • Tear down the trailer and pack exhibits each day at the end of the event
  • While tour stops are pre-planned, you'll need to work with your point of contact at each school/event site to ensure the day's events are properly planned for
  • Full training will be provided, including safe operation of the event trailer, operation of all simulators and technology aboard the trailer, talking points, ELDs, and more

What You Get Paid
Compensation is a competitive salary and is dependent on your experience in our unique industry. In addition to salary, our Tour Managers receive a healthy per diem while on the road.
SPEVCO also offers a great host of benefits from Medical/Rx, Dental, and Vision, voluntary Disability and Life Insurance, FSA or HSA, 401k with match, PTO plan, and 9 paid holidays.
The Nitty Gritty Requirements and Preferences
  • Leadership, Integrity, and Positive Energy always come first
  • Must be the safest of drivers over-the-road
    • Strong safety mindset and desire to be part of, and promote our safety culture
  • Must be a resident of Alabama and currently live in that state
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Desire to work with high school-aged students (it helps to be "young at heart", regardless of your age)
  • Ability to engage and create excitement around careers in various skilled trades
  • A valid Class A CDL driver's license with a clean driving record and a valid DOT Medical Certificate is required
    • 2 years of Class A driving experience, operating 53' trailers, preferred
    • Must hold a Class A CDL from the state of Alabama
  • Clean criminal and motor vehicle background (again, you're working with young people on school property)
    • Some schools and/or school systems may require that you consent to additional background checks before arriving on-site
  • Experience with moving and setting up custom expandable event trailers, strongly preferred
  • Comfortable with limited public speaking in front of small groups and interacting with students between the ages of 13 to 18
  • Strong client service skills and a desire to help our clients achieve their goals and make a positive impact in your community
