Title: Senior Accountant, Payroll, Benefits & Administration

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Status: Full-time

Hours: 40/week, Monday - Friday, 9 am-6 pm

Location: Bloomington, IN or Brooklyn, NY

All labels share infrastructure and common distribution through Secretly Distribution, the distribution and services arm founded in 1997, operating as an enterprise level, global music distributor for independent labels and artists. Position Summary: Primary responsibility for the global payroll function, this role sits in the accounting and finance department but is closely aligned with HR in the execution of tasks. The role includes all accounting and data warehousing aspects of payroll and benefits, including the annual renewal and administration of various benefit packages, and reporting to and liaising with various State and City agencies. The role will also support or lead special projects in the accounting department, generally as needs arise.


Responsibilities: 

  • Global Payroll administration in conjunction with HR data feeds
  • Annual review and selection of benefit plans, including medical, dental, vision, commuter, COBRA, including analysis and plan proposal
  • 401k Administration (U.S.) and non-US pension plan administration
  • COBRA Administration
  • Processing and review of payroll and benefits billing
  • Annual workers comp, disability, and other census reports and audits
  • Principal administrator of HR platforms for Payroll and 401k plan
  • Booking payroll and allocation entries to the GL across all entities
  • Annual review/bonus administration
  • General accounting duties as assigned and relevant, such as 1099 processing, sales tax and VAT processing, corporate insurance administration, credit card reconciliation, and reporting


The Ideal Candidate Demonstrates:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting or other quantitative field
  • 3-5 years in a similar or adjacent role
  • Prior experience processing and booking payroll is a prerequisite
  • Strong knowledge of payroll and benefits platforms
  • Extensive knowledge of payroll functions including accruals, timekeeping, and payroll taxes
  • Quantitative mindset, with great attention to detail
  • Required proficiency in advanced Excel skills, aptitude with large data sets, and tech savvy orientation
  • Talent for cultivating relationships across business units and functions
  • Proven process management skills
  • Experience implementing new systems or organization-wide changes

Salary: The annual base salary for this position is in the range of $69,000 - $85,000 and eligible for benefits and discretionary bonus. Ultimate salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, business sector, and geographic location.
