Position Summary
TheSustainability Intern at Moody Center will work alongside professionals in the live entertainment, sports, and venue management industry at a top arena. This internship will provide experience with sustainability initiatives, planning and reporting, as well as general venue operations. Interns will gain working knowledge and experience working with a portfolio of projects to support Oak View Group's Sustainability Program including projects to address energy, water conservation, waste management, air quality, green mobility, and environmental stewardship.
This role pays an hourly rate of $13.00
This role is expected to last from May 18th, 2026 and will end on August 7, 2026.
This position will remain open until July 3rd, 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with coordinating and facilitating Oak View Group's Sustainability policies, programs, and initiatives that promote local environmental, energy, economic, and social sustainability.
  • Contribute to facility wide waste sorting program with on-site training and enforcement of sorting policies and procedures to help reduce contamination and increase zero waste mission.
  • Assist in tracking performance standards and metrics applicable to the environment, community wellness, facility performance and other policy areas as directed.
  • Manage data collection to identify trends.
  • Assist with writing reports describing program results and challenges.
  • Brainstorm marketing content and guide public information efforts to ensure that Moody Center fans & employees are knowledgeable and capable of carrying out their environmental responsibilities.
  • Assist in training all arena staff create a "buy-in" culture for our sustainability program.
  • Assist with record keeping, waste audits, and other administrative tasks.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Learning Objectives: By the end of the internship, the Sustainability Intern will be able to:
  • Demonstrate understanding of sustainability principles within the live entertainment industry by supporting venue-wide programs related to waste reduction, energy use, water conservation, and air quality.
  • Apply hands-on knowledge of zero-waste practices by participating in waste sorting training, contamination reduction efforts, and operational sustainability initiatives.
  • Support the roll-out of sustainability training and learn strategies to build organizational buy-in.
    Collect, organize, and analyze sustainability data to identify performance trends and areas for improvement in venue operations.
  • Build confidence working in a fast-paced event environment that requires flexibility, physical activity, and teamwork.

Qualifications
  • Interns must be currently enrolled as students at an accredited institution, which may include trade schools, community/junior colleges, or undergraduate or graduate programs
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in the most productive and/or appropriate manner.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and work in a team setting.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Previous experience in a customer service-based industry is preferred.
  • Previous experience within a sports, entertainment, or related field is preferred.
  • Willingness to learn and open to coaching.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • High level of demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and ability to maintain sensitive information.
