Job description

Description
The Division of Hematology & Oncology in the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center is seeking exceptional hematologists to join our rapidly expanding 8-member Classical Hematology team. Academic appointments are available at the Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor levels. There are opportunities to develop your area of expertise in our collaborative environment. The successful MD or MD/PhD candidate will participate in the educational programs of the department which include teaching services, training, preceptorships and mentoring students, house staff and fellows in the inpatient and outpatient settings.
The Division of Hematology & Oncology collaborates extensively with the Monroe Carrell Jr. Children's Hospital to facilitate integrated hemophilia and sickle cell disease programs. The benign hematology program houses a robust Hemophilia Treatment Center, serving over 800 patients in the Southeast region, and the Vanderbilt Center of Excellence in Sickle Cell Disease.
Vanderbilt leads nationally in the implementation and advancement of systems-based hematology. Our robust IT department can assist with ERH-based implementation. We provide consultative service to a 1,741-bed hospital and in a variety of integrated clinic arenas. The classical hematology program is supported by a clinical trials support team and is home to a variety of federally and industry-supported studies. We are strongly committed to bringing together the best scientists and clinicians to treat hematology diagnoses through pioneering research, compassionate care, prevention, and outreach.
The division is proud to be leaders in innovation and discovery across all aspects of the enterprise. We are highly committed to training and mentorship, hosting numerous training programs for fellows and junior faculty members, and mentorship and career development programming that span the faculty spectrum.
Vanderbilt University is a member of the Southeastern Conference, and the campus is a National Arboretum located in the heart of Nashville, the capital of Tennessee. Known as "Music City USA", Nashville is home to the Nashville Symphony, the Frist Center for the Visual Arts, professional sports teams, and numerous outdoors activities; it is a great place to live and raise a family while doing ground-breaking research and teaching outstanding students at all levels.
Qualifications
Candidates interested in all areas of classical hematology are welcome and encouraged to apply. Qualified candidates will have an MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree and appropriate experience with peer-reviewed publications demonstrating outstanding scholarly work. Successful candidates will be expected to establish and maintain an energetic, independent clinical or lab-based project and participate in teaching clinical residents and fellow trainees.
