Music Department Aide – Yorktown Middle

Position Summary

The Music Department Aide provides instructional and operational support to the school’s music program under the direction of certified music teachers. This position assists with classroom instruction, student supervision, and program activities to promote a positive and effective learning environment for middle and high school music students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist certified music teachers with the delivery of music instruction and classroom activities.
  • Provide individual and small-group support to students as directed by the teacher.
  • Reinforce musical concepts, skills, and techniques introduced during instruction.
  • Assist in the preparation, organization, and maintenance of instructional materials, instruments, equipment, and music resources.
  • Support student participation during rehearsals, performances, and other music-related activities.
  • Monitor and supervise students as assigned to ensure a safe, productive, and respectful learning environment.
  • Maintain accurate records and perform clerical tasks related to the music department as needed.
  • Collaborate with music faculty and school staff to support student achievement and program goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher, department chair, or school administration.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or college coursework preferred.
  • Knowledge of music education, instrumental music, vocal music, or related performing arts is desirable.
  • Ability to work effectively with middle and high school students.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow directions, maintain confidentiality, and work collaboratively as part of a team.
