Job description

Christ Church Cathedral is seeking an Associate Director of Music to support the musical, liturgical, educational, and administrative work of the music department, including the Chancel Choir, Choir School, Coro Latinoamericano, Concert Series, and other departmental programs. The Cathedralโ€™s music department is representative of many musical and cultural styles and traditions, supporting our diverse liturgical needs while complementing a strong foundation in Episcopal church music. The Associate Director of Music performs weekly at the highest possible musical standard and empowers choristers, instrumental musicians, and colleagues to perform to the best of their abilities.

Duties include, but are not limited to, supporting CCCโ€™s Co-Directors of Music in the following ways:

  • Act as principal accompanist in worship and rehearsals
  • Assist in rehearsing, training, supporting and recruiting members of the Chancel Choir, Coro Latinoamericano and Choir School
  • Maintain essential administrative records such as payroll, contracts, budgeting, required trainings, etc.
  • Assist in preparing and/or updating choir manuals, handbooks, rosters, calendars and other departmental documents
Education and/or Experience

A bachelorโ€™s degree in Organ Performance, Sacred Music, Choral Music, Music Education, or a related field is required. An equivalent combination of relevant education and professional experience may be considered. A Masterโ€™s Degree in Music, Sacred Music, Organ Performance, Choral Conducting, or a related field is preferred.

Bilingual candidates (Spanish-English) are strongly preferred.
