Department:MuseumPosition Reports to:Museum Education Supervisor Pay Grade:11Employment Type:Full-timeExempt/Nonexempt:Non-exemptDescription:Under the direction of the Museum Education Supervisor and Head of Museum Exhibitions and Programs implements and assists with school and community programming, assists with exhibition development and performs general tasks for the Museum Education department. Specific tasks will vary depending on assignment. Full-time, some weekends and evenings required.Duties:Implement, develop, and support educational programmingCreate educational and interpretive materials for exhibitions, and assist with exhibitions as assignedMaintain relationships with community partners, volunteers, and Museum stakeholdersParticipate in program assessments and new program developmentManage special events and educational programs as assignedKeep accurate program and attendance records and prepare reports; conduct program evaluations and assessmentsFacilitate museum tours and other programs Participate in professional development opportunities such as conferences and workshops to promote SMA education programs and stay current with best practice All other duties as assigned.Qualifications:BA in Art Education, Art History, Humanities, or related education degree required. At least two (2) years of museum experience in exhibitions and education, with demonstrated proficiency in guiding gallery tours and informal learning environments, is desirable. Curriculum development and classroom management skills are required.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESFamiliar with visitor-centered and inquiry-based learning.Sound understanding of current museum education theory.Curriculum writing and classroom management experience.Working understanding of Utah State Core Standards.Attention to detail and editing.Advanced customer service skills and the ability to interact with Museum patrons, volunteers and the public in a courteous and efficient manner.Some overnight travel is required. Must possess and maintain a valid Utah driver's license, and successfully pass a background check.Experience with Microsoft Office is required, with an emphasis on Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign and Illustrator.Dual language candidates encouraged to apply. Physical Demands:This job requires a significant amount of time sitting at a desk in front of a computer screen and using a keyboard for data entry.
