Accounting Supervisor โ€“ Revenue &Receipts (Regular, Full-Time)

Finance and Accounting


Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Supervisor, Revenue & Receipts is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely safeguarding and accounting of all Museum receipts and revenues. In addition, this role maintains internal controls over cash handling and revenue recognition and supervises an accountant who supports these activities.


Responsibilities

  • Oversees the timely and accurate processing, recording, and reconciliation of all cash receipts and revenue transactions.

  • Records and monitors receivables to ensure timely collections.

  • Ensures all payments are accurately coded and posted to the general ledger.

  • Prepares and/or reviews all journal entries involving cash and stock receipts.

  • Informs appropriate departments and staff about incoming receipts and revenue.

  • Monitors daily credit card receipts from all the Museumโ€™s merchant accounts and processes cc charges brought to Finance/Accounting.

  • Resolves discrepancies quickly to ensure the timely posting of receipts in the Cash Receipts Module.

  • Supervises and supports one accounting staff member, including assigning and reviewing work to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies, including interviewing, hiring, training, performance management, and employee development.

  • Addresses employee concerns, resolves issues, and supports a productive and compliant work environment.


Benefits:

  • The expected salary range for this Los Angeles, CA-based position is $80,000 - $87,000, subject to change, and the position is eligible for LACMAโ€™s comprehensive benefits package, including a pension plan.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited college or university, or a combination of education, training, and a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, may be considered.

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience

  • Experience in a nonprofit or educational environment preferred, but not required.

  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical and procedural documents.

  • Effective written communication skills for preparing routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers and employees at all organizational levels.

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
