Job Summary:

Leads internal and external communications and engagement activities aligned with the Company’s growth strategy. Produces and distributes content that strengthens the brand, supports employee engagement, and engages key stakeholders. Creates marketing visuals, maintains the website, and manages social media content and reporting. Plans and executes advertising campaigns to support recruitment, industry awareness, and business development.


Main Responsibilities:

• Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams

• Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, mission, code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies

• Develop and execute internal and external communication plans aligned with business goals, core strategic themes, and brand standards; maintain communication activity calendars and contribute to the Colas USA communications calendar

• Write, edit, and publish content for announcements, presentations, newsletters, digital channels, and other internal/external communications

• Create and manage visual and multimedia content (graphic design, templates, photography, and short-form video) in line with established style guides and brand guidelines

• Travel periodically to job sites across the region to capture content and collaborate with crews

• Maintain and update the company website in coordination with website developers; support website content management, accessibility monitoring, and basic SEO maintenance

• Manage social media channels by channel and audience, including researching and sharing relevant industry posts, monitoring and responding to inquiries, and maintaining Google Business listings

• Plan and run advertising and public-facing marketing campaigns to support recruiting, industry positioning & awareness, customer outreach, and business development

• Gather, analyze, and report data on communication and marketing efforts; provide insights and recommendations for improvement

• Support sales teams with communication strategies, branded templates, and email newsletters (e.g., through CRM such as HubSpot) and assist with customer-facing marketing initiatives

• Coordinate projects with third-party marketing/design agencies and printers; attend marketing meetings with outside agencies as needed

• Manage and contribute to company publications (Colas Inc Crossroads; Colas SA Routes, etc.) when required

• Collaborate with Colas Inc Communications and the Brand Manager to maintain and, when appropriate, refresh branding and brand guidelines; participate in Colas Inc communications projects supporting the broader USA communications function

• Establish and maintain relationships with local communities, high schools, and trade schools to support communications and recruiting initiatives; represent the Company at events as needed

• Perform other duties as assigned


Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

• Certification or training in digital marketing, social media, graphic design, or communications preferred

• Valid Drivers’ License and ability to maintain clean driving record required


Skills:

• 2+ years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related role

• Experience working in construction, manufacturing, or related industry a plus

• Experience managing digital channels and platforms (website/CMS, social media, email marketing, Google Business Profile)

• Proficiency with creative tools for design and multimedia production (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and photo/video editing tools)

• Proficiency with Microsoft/Office 365, including Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Word

• Experience planning and executing campaigns (organic and paid) and managing content calendars

• Ability to track, analyze, and report performance metrics (web, social, email) and translate data into recommendations

• Experience with email marketing tools/CRM platforms (HubSpot preferred) and audience segmentation

• Working knowledge of website content development best practices, including basic SEO and accessibility considerations; WordPress experience a plus

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to craft engaging content

• Ability to communicate professionally, engage with diverse groups of people, and present in front of groups

• Ability to plan and organize work, maintain attention to detail and deliver results under pressure of set timelines

• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external vendors

• Bilingual language skills a plus (English/Spanish)


Physical Requirements:

• Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company safety guidelines

• Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device

• Regularly required to communicate and receive information (talk and hear)

• Regularly required to perform tasks requiring visual acuity, including but not limited to reading, writing/typing, & driving

• Regularly required to stand and/or walk for extended periods during jobsite visits, events, and meetings

• Visits to worksites involve exposure to loud noise, dust, heavy equipment, and machinery typical of construction and mining/manufacturing site conditions, including all-weather conditions

• Travel required (25%) to capture content and attend recruiting/networking events, business meetings, training, etc.

• Flexible/hybrid working arrangement; in-office/on-site work determined by business need and context; must reside within footprint of business operations


Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation*: $58,000-$70,000 DOE


*Estimated target starting compensation; actual compensation to be determined based on assessment of an individual’s qualifications, education, and experience relevant to the role.


Benefits: All full-time hourly employees are eligible to participate in Simon benefits as defined in plan documents.
