Job description

KXAN seeks a dynamic multimedia journalist to lead our livestreaming platforms, delivering breaking news and original content across our connected TV app, YouTube channel, website and social media platforms. This role also includes enterprise, investigative and daily news reporting focused on Central Texas.

Livestream anchor responsibilities:

  • Produce and anchor breaking news,activeweather and live event coverage using video, graphics, sound and guest interviews.
  • Work with newsroom to identify and execute livestream opportunities.
  • Oversee livestream content, ensuring high-quality production, accuracy and audience engagement.
  • Develop new livestream concepts and interactive programming.
  • Experience with Akta and vMix streaming tools preferred.

Content creation responsibilities:

  • Create original daily reports for KXAN.com, social media and streaming platforms.
  • Create video-on-demand content from livestreams and original reporting.
  • Produce and edit vertical video for YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels and other platforms.
  • Optimize YouTube content through strong packaging, including headlines, thumbnails, descriptions and metadata.
  • Analyze audience trends and performance data to improve reach and engagement.
  • Produce multimedia stories that support livestream coverage and drive original reporting.
  • Share content across Nexstar's digital network

Successful candidates should:

  • Demonstrate strong news judgment and newswriting skills
  • Have strong, charismatic on-air presence
  • Be able to ad-lib in dynamic situations
  • Be highly organized,designing workflows for efficient distribution of content across various platforms
  • 3+ years' experience in a local newsroom preferred

Education:

  • Degree in journalism, video production or other fields related to media content management
