Job description

Assistant General Manager  – Morrow Hospitality

Location: New Orleans, LA (On-site)

Position Type: Full-Time, Management / Career Development Track

About Morrow Hospitality Group

Morrow Hospitality is a premier, New Orleans-based collective of unique, highly lauded restaurants, bars, and nightlife ventures that celebrate and elevate the rich culinary and cultural traditions of our city. Our diverse portfolio consists of 5 distinctively different customer-experience-driven concepts, including Morrow’s Traditional Restaurant (our high-volume neighborhood anchor), Spicy Mango, Sun Chung, and the upscale Morrow’s Steakhouse.

We invite you to join our family as we guide our guests on a memorable journey through flavor, culture, and unmatched hospitality. This is not just another job. Morrow Hospitality is not just another company. We build legacies.

Position Overview

Are you an ambitious hospitality manager ready to make the leap to executive portfolio leadership? Morrow Hospitality is seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking Assistant General Manager (AGM) who possesses the drive, work ethic, and "stretch capabilities" to eventually step into a full General Manager role within our company.

This is not a passive supporting role. As an AGM, you will actively manage operations at one of our 5 distinct concepts alongside our senior leadership team. You will undergo a deliberate, hands-on professional development program designed to master multi-unit P&L management, financial strategy, and talent architecture. The ideal candidate has a rock-solid foundation in restaurant operations and a deep hunger to be coached into a top-tier executive.

Core Responsibilities & Stretch Goals

  • Operational Partnership: Work in direct lockstep with the General Manager and executive ownership to run daily front-of-house and back-of-house operations across all 5 distinct venues.
  • Team Leadership & Culture: Oversee the interview, selection, onboarding, and continuous training of front-of-house staff. Act as the primary cultural catalyst on the floor, coaching and mentoring team members daily.
  • Financial Oversight Tracking: Assist the General Manager in auditing weekly food and beverage costs (COGS), building labor schedules against local tourism cycles, and checking POS reporting systems to protect portfolio margins.
  • Guest Experience & Resolution: Set the standard for 5-star service by leading by example on the floor. Address guest concerns with absolute poise and use data from guest comments to improve internal systems.
  • Compliance & Standard Auditing: Ensure the restaurant maintains perfect alignment with Louisiana health codes, safety regulations, and interior cleanliness standards.

Desired Qualifications & Stretch Capabilities

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required; a Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or Business Administration is a distinct plus.
  • Experience: At least 3–5 years of proven leadership experience as a Assistant Manager, Service Manager, or high-volume Shift Supervisor in a fast-paced restaurant setting.
  • The "Stretch" Trait: Documented career history showing rapid promotion, an eagerness to take on unprompted projects, and a clear desire for professional growth.
  • Logistical Skills: Deep proficiency with modern restaurant tech (POS systems like Toast, reservation platforms, and inventory tracking software).
  • Leadership Style: Exceptional communication skills with the unique ability to motivate, lead, and unite a diverse workforce through high-stress, high-volume shifts.
  • Credentials: Must possess (or be able to rapidly obtain) a valid Food Safety Manager Certificate and a Louisiana Responsible Vendor Permit.

What We Offer (The Investment)

  • Competitive salary with a structured performance-based bonus framework.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits, plus Short-Term Disability.
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) and sick days.

To Launch Your Executive Journey: Please submit your resume along with a brief description of your long-term career goals and why you believe you have the capability to lead a multi-concept group.
