Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a multi-specialty ICU position requiring a WI or compact license and 3 years of ICU experience.

Details
  • Work in a 36-bed multi-specialty ICU within a Level II Trauma Center
  • Care for high acuity neuro, post cardiovascular surgery, medical, surgical, and trauma ICU patients including CRRT
  • No pediatric, burn, or transplant patients
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • 12-hour day shift schedule starting at 7am, 36 hours per week
  • Weekend rotation required every other weekend
  • Floating required to all MedSurg units in rotation, with potential to float outside ICU when needed
  • On-call requirement of 1 shift per six weeks
  • CNA support at a 1:12 ratio with charge nurse not taking an assignment
  • Centralized tele monitoring with a dedicated tech plus bedside monitoring
  • 24-hour intensivist and mid-level coverage on the unit
  • Full-time ICU educator and CV coordinator support available
  • Uses EPIC, Alaris, and Pyxis systems
Requirements
  • Active RN license, WI or compact, required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 3 years of ICU experience required
  • Skills required in trachs, vents, chest tubes, vasoactive drips, procedural recoveries, and temporary pacemakers
  • Special competencies required for post cardiovascular recovery, CRRT, and neuro patient populations, which may limit contract staff assignment to these patients
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • COVID vaccine required
  • Candidate's middle name or initial, DOB, and last 4 of SSN required for consideration
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
  • Provide critical care nursing to a high acuity, multi-specialty ICU population
  • One shift of orientation provided on the unit
  • Up to 7 days of time off may be approved during the assignment
  • Scrubs of any color permitted
  • Free parking available outside the inpatient entrance
  • First-time travelers considered upon review
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restrictions
  • Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before being eligible for travel assignments
