Multi Unit Director information

What is a multi unit director?

Multi Unit Directors are professionals responsible for overseeing the operations of multiple business locations or units within an organization, commonly in industries like retail, hospitality, or food service. They ensure each unit meets company standards for performance, customer service, and profitability. Multi Unit Directors manage unit managers, coordinate strategic initiatives, and work to achieve overall business goals across their assigned areas. Their role also involves analyzing performance data, implementing best practices, and ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a multi unit director?

To thrive as a Multi Unit Director, you need strong leadership, operational management, and financial acumen, typically backed by a bachelor’s degree in business or a related field and significant multi-site management experience. Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, scheduling software, and performance analytics tools is essential. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and team development skills distinguish top performers in this role. These abilities are critical for ensuring consistent operational excellence, driving business growth, and leading high-performing teams across multiple locations.

What are some common challenges faced by multi unit directors when managing multiple locations, and how can they be addressed?

Multi Unit Directors often encounter challenges such as maintaining consistent operational standards across diverse locations, ensuring effective communication, and balancing varying team dynamics. To address these, successful directors implement standardized processes, conduct regular site visits, and foster open communication channels between teams. Leveraging technology for real-time reporting and focusing on leadership development within each unit can also help streamline operations and promote consistency.

BALLAST WAX · EUROPEAN WAX CENTER

Wax Specialist

Your Craft. Your Guests. Your Business.

Bayshore Mall· 5660 N Port Washington Rd Suite H-145, Glendale, WI 53217 · In-Person · Full-Time & Part-Time Available · License Required

THE OPPORTUNITY

This isn't just a job. It's a clientele you build, a skill you sharpen, and a business that's yours.

As a Wax Specialist at European Wax Center, you're the expert in the room. Guests trust you with their skin, their comfort, and their confidence. You'll deliver high-quality waxing services in your own private suite, build real relationships with returning guests, and grow a loyal book of business - all within the support of a nationally recognized brand.

We're Ballast Wax, a fast-growing multi-unit EWC franchisee. We invest heavily in the development of our Wax Specialists because we know that when you grow, our centers grow. You'll have access to ongoing training, brand education, and a team that genuinely wants to see you thrive - technically, professionally, and financially.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Guest Experience & Service Delivery

  • Deliver professional waxing services in accordance with EWC brand protocols and licensing requirements
  • Greet every guest with warmth, professionalism, and enthusiasm
  • Educate guests on post-wax care, service frequency, and what to expect
  • Build genuine relationships that keep guests coming back - and referring friends

Sales & Guest Retention

  • Recommend skincare products and service packages that genuinely serve your guests
  • Consistently achieve rebooking, product sales, and Wax Pass goals
  • Leverage your product knowledge and consultative approach to drive retention
  • Contribute to center-wide performance targets

Hygiene, Safety & Standards

  • Maintain a clean, sterile, and organized wax suite at all times
  • Adhere to all sanitation standards and state licensing laws without exception
  • Uphold brand standards and model the EWC guest experience

Growth & Team Culture

  • Participate in ongoing training, skill development, and center meetings
  • Support fellow team members and contribute to a positive, inclusive environment
  • Bring curiosity and commitment to your craft - we'll bring the resources

BUILD YOUR BUSINESS WITHIN OURS

We don't just hand you a room and a schedule. We invest in your growth.

At Ballast Wax, we believe a great Wax Specialist is running their own business - building a loyal guest base, refining their technique, and growing their income through skill and relationships. We provide the brand, the tools, and the training. You bring the passion and the professionalism.

  • Structured onboarding and EWC brand certification to set you up for success from day one
  • Ongoing technical training and product education - stay sharp, stay current
  • Access to EWC's national brand resources, protocols, and best practices
  • Performance-based earning structure that rewards you for building a loyal guest book
  • A clear path to senior specialist, lead, and leadership roles for those who want more

WHO YOU ARE

You have the license. Now let's build the business.

  • You hold an active Esthetician or Cosmetologist license in the state where you're applying - this is required.
  • You care about your guests beyond the service. You remember names, ask about their skin, and build trust one appointment at a time.
  • You're comfortable recommending products and services. You educate confidently and let the results speak for themselves.
  • You take sanitation and standards seriously. Your suite is always guest-ready and your protocols are never compromised.
  • You're a learner. Whether you're brand new or experienced, you show up to training ready to grow.
  • You're available when guests are - evenings and weekends included. Full-time and part-time schedules available.

WHAT WE OFFER

Compensation

  • Performance commissions and bonuses - adding $5–$15/hr as you build your book
  • Tips on every service - earned directly by you
  • Base Rate: $10 / Hour
  • The more you grow your guest book, the more you earn - it's that direct

Benefits - Full-Time (30+ Hours/Week)

  • Medical and supplemental insurance

Benefits - All Team Members (Full-Time & Part-Time)

  • 401(k) with employer match - available to all team members regardless of hours
  • Paid time off
  • FREE Waxing for Wax Specialists (yes, really)
  • 40% off EWC products
  • Earn STRUT Bucks through performance - redeem toward products, making them FREE

OUR HIRING PROCESS

Three steps. No runaround.

  1. Step 1 - Video Interview: A conversation about your experience, technique, and goals.
  2. Step 2 - Experience the Center: Come in as a guest. See your future workspace from the inside.
  3. Step 3 - Mutual Fit Decision: If it clicks for both sides, let's build something together.

OUR VALUES

CONFIDENCE: We model it. | EMPOWERMENT: We create it. | BALANCE: We protect it.
